Review for boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer - 1 month, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Packaging: Loved the matte mint green container. It’s very simple and clean. I also liked that the product came with the glass spatula. I normally don’t like products stored in a jar, since it’s not as sanitary as tubes. Having the spatula makes things much more cleaner.

Consistency: The product is a lightweight clear gel consistency. The fragrance is very light and floral.

Application: Using the glass spatula or fingers, the product was easy to apply from fingers to face. The product is very smooth and easy to spread. A little goes a long way and I only needed a small dollop. Since it’s a gel based moisturizer, the product absorbed quickly into my skin and did not feel sticky or oily.

Results: I only used the product for overnight use, so keep in mind for my review. Gel based moisturizers are great for summer weather when you don’t need the heavy duty hydration/moisture. I have combination skin, but leaning more towards the oily side. This moisturizer was perfect for my skin type and provided the right level of hydration/moisture. It created the overnight “barrier” I needed for the final step of my Korean/Japanese 5-8 step skincare routine and controlled sebum oil prediction. When I woke up the next morning to wash my face, I noticed that the layer of moisturizer was still on my face since I can feel a thin layer of surface. I also have sensitive skin and I did not break out.

Price: At $38, it’s definitely priced as a higher end moisturizer. I think it’s worth it for the quantity you receive.

Overall: I liked the product, but it’s not a holy grail for me. I will keep using the product for the rest of summer.

Review for Giorgio Armani Beauty Face Fabric Foundation - 3 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Review for: 3.5 - Light With Warm Undertone more...
Packaging: The packaging was nothing special, since it came in a squeeze tube. It has a matte finish and very simple.

Consistency/coverage: The foundation is a creamy consistency that turns into a powder finish. About a quarter size dollop is enough for coverage. The foundation provides a light to medium coverage, much more lighter than what I normally use. Even with concealer, the foundation is not enough to cover all my blemishes nor evens out my skin tone. The foundation is buildable, but I did not try to attempt for full coverage. It dries to a demi-matte finish.

Application: I used one of my Morphe brushes to apply the foundation. When using the brush, the foundation was easy to apply evenly and did not streak. However, the foundation quickly blends to a powder finish quickly.

Color: I received shade 3.5 (light with warm undertone) and the foundation was surprisingly a perfect match. I have olive tone skin with golden undertone and usually use a medium toned foundation. The color blended well with my natural skin tone.

Lasting power: Under normal wear, the foundation lasts about 8 hours before a touch up is necessary and before patchiness occurs. I have combo/oily skin so it does an okay job controlling shine. The foundation reminds me of the bareminerals original powder foundation finish and lasting power.

Price: At $49, this foundation falls in the price category of higher end luxury brands and much more pricey. Considering this is a Giorgio Armani product, the price is to be expected.

Overall, I would recommend this product for someone who’s looking for a powder finish foundation, but likes the application of a liquid. It’s a good foundation, but not my holy grail. I like it enough to use the rest of the foundation, but not enough to buy a refill once I’m out.

Review for bareMinerals MADE-2-FIT Fresh Faced Liquid Foundation - 4 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Packaging: The packaging was very high end, especially since the bottle had my own name as part of the label. The bottle is a pump and made out of glass, which felt very sturdy. The turnaround time from order date to delivery was very quick (about 2 days), which I was satisfied with.

Consistency/coverage: The foundation has more of a creamy consistency, instead of a liquid (compared to the bareminerals barePRO foundation). One pump is enough for light/medium coverage. Even with concealer, one layer of the foundation is not enough to cover all my blemishes and dark spots. The foundation is buildable if you want more of a medium/full coverage. However, it’s not as full coverage as the barePRO foundation. The foundation has a mostly matte finish, but fully matte.

Application: I used one of my Morphe brushes to apply the foundation. When using the brush, the foundation was easy to apply evenly and did not streak. It does take some time for the foundation to dry and set (maybe about 1-2 minutes) instead of drying right away.

Color: In the bareminerals original foundation, I am a golden medium 14 and in the barePRO foundation, I am a toffee 19 during the summer months. The first foundation I received was too light for my skin tone and did not have enough golden undertone, so it made me look pale. The second foundation I received was a perfect match and was much closer to the golden medium 14 color I normally wear. I liked how the shade was a perfect match, because I do have a hard time looking for foundations that match perfectly. I tan very easily and my skin tone changes frequently.

Shade matching process: It took two attempts in order for me to receive the perfect shade. Customer service was very helpful and friendly in issuing me a reorder code for my second shade match. They received my feedback via phone and was able to include more golden undertones in the second shade, which resulted in a better match. The customer service rep recommended that I perform the shade match process under dim lighting at night time in order to avoid harsh/natural lighting that might interfere with the shade matching process. They also recommended performing the match process multiple times in order to avoid any potential process errors. The calibration and shade matching process with the app was the only downside. The app was very glitchy and crashed often so I would have to restart a few times. Bareminerals really needs to update the app to be more stable and user friendly.

Lasting power: Under normal wear, the foundation lasts about 8 hours before a touch up is necessary and before patchiness occurs. I have combo/oily skin so it does a good job controlling shine. I have not tried the foundation under more humid or hotter conditions, so I have not tested out its full capabilities. I also have acne prone skin and did not break out after 2 weeks of use.

Price: At $49, this foundation falls in the price category of higher end luxury brands and much more pricey. Considering that this is a custom product, I believe the price level is justified.

Overall, I would recommend this product and will be continuing to use the rest of the foundation I received. Personally, I like foundation, but not as much as the barePRO foundation. I do like it enough to consider using the Made2Fit foundation in my rotating supply of foundations in the future.

Review for L'Oréal Paris EverPure Repair & Defend Shampoo - 5 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Packaging: Packaging was simple and I appreciate the squeeze tube. Makes it easier to squeeze product.

Smell: The smell of the product was fragrant and not overbearing.Application: The shampoo consistency was like any other shampoo. I have medium long length hair and had to use a considerable amount (a little more than a quarter size dollop) to clean my hair thoroughly.

Texture/feel: After washing my hair with the product, I felt like the shampoo cleaned my hair thoroughly without stripping my hair of moisture. I always use conditioner after shampooing, so I haven’t seen a significant difference in softness or moisture from the shampoo. I have color treated hair, but haven’t used the shampoo enough to see color protection effects.

Price: With a price tag of less than $10, this is what I would expect to pay for a drug store brand. Can’t complain here.

Overall, I would rate the product 4/5 stars. I would continue to use the product to see how well the product preserve hair color in comparison to other luxury brand shampoos.

Packaging: Packaging was simple and easy to remove from the sleeve. Nothing too special. The mask was easy to unfold and there were no issues of the product leaking out of the mask.

Smell: The smell of the product was exactly as expected—like flowers. The smell was not overbearing and was long-lasting. The smell lingered after I dried my hair and into the next day.

Application: The application process of the mask is where the product needs improvement. I have medium/long length hair and it was very difficult to stuff all my hair in the mask. The product in the mask is also very slippery so as soon as I opened the mask, the product started to seep into my hair and my hands while trying to place the cap onto my head. Unpeeling the tape to tighten the cap was also difficult to do in the shower. The tape part was slippery and did not fasten the cap as much as I would like. As a result, the cap was loosely applied to my head. There was enough room in the cap to cover all my head and “massage” the product all over my scalp and hair.

Texture/feel: After removing the cap, my hair felt smooth and silky. The amount of product was generous and enough to cover my whole scalp and hair strands. My scalp and hair felt moisturized. I did not feel the need to apply additional conditioner and I was able to comb my fingers through my hair. The only downside was that the product was difficult to rinse off, especially in the scalp area since that was where the product was concentrated. Even after drying my hair, the next morning I felt a thin layer of residue in some parts of my scalp. The strands of my hair, especially the ends, felt moisturized more than usual.

Price: With a price tag of less than $5, this is what I would expect to pay for a drug store brand. Can’t complain here.

Overall, I would rate the product 3/5 stars. I would use it again if it was available to me, but would not purchase it on a regular basis. I would purchase the mask if I need to moisturize my scalp. The effectiveness of the product is almost the same as applying a regular conditioner.

I received this product complimentary for testing and review from Influenster.

Review for: 15 Bright Lilac Pink more...
Packaging: The packaging is gorgeous and screams luxurious. From the ombré design to the sturdy jewel shaped casing, the product gives off a great first impression.

Smell/taste: When I first open the product, the first thing I noticed was the amazing smell. It smells floral like roses. The product doesn’t have a distinct taste, which I prefer.

Application: At first, the product applies very sheer, so I had to apply a few thin layers to get the amount of color I wanted on my lips. The gloss is buildable, which is great because I can control the amount of color.

Color payoff: I received shade #15 for testing purposes complimentary from Influenster. At first, the color appeared more as a lilac/berry tone. After a few minutes, the gloss absorbed into my lips and blended with my natural lip color and appeared more pink. I am not too big of a fan of berry tones for my lips, but I like how this color blended well with my warm skin tone and didn’t appear so purple toned.

Texture/feel: The gloss does not feel sticky and is very moisturizing. It feels more like a lip balm or Carmex is on your lips, instead of a gloss. The product is wearable and would be something that I can wear every day

Durability: I have not tried to eat/drink while wearing the product to test how long it will last. With normal wear, this product fades away nicely throughout the day and does not stain your lips (granted this is a gloss). So if you’re tired of the color in the middle of your day, it would be easy to take off. The gloss does not feather and stays within your lip line.

Price: With a price tag of more than $30, this is definitely a luxury cosmetic item. This make up line is part of the Shiseido family so you know you’re paying for quality. Personally, I wouldn’t pay such a high price for a lip item, considering that there are comparable products on the market for a more affordable price.

Overall, I would recommend this product if you’re looking for a luxury brand lip gloss that is highly moisturizing and can be used for every day use.

Not a huge fan of this facial cleanser.  I have oil/combination skin and I felt like the cleanser did a good job of cleaning impurities without stripping away moisture.  However, my skin did breakout significantly after using the product for a couple days, so it might not be the best for those with sensitivie skin.

To be honest, I have not used the product consistently to see full results for my whole face.  However, I have been having issues with dry skin on my upper lip and lips and the oil has helped significantly.  I apply at night befor going to bed and when I wake up the next morning, most of the flakiness has disappeared.

I only noticed the effectiveness of this product once I stopped using it for 2 weeks.  When I was using the product, my dark circles faded and the puffiness was reduced.  However, some of my fine lines are still present and the cream has not been effective in addressing this concern.  For the price, I would expect the product to address all my concerns.
