Review for Pixi Glow Tonic - 2 weeks, 2 days ago

Review for: 100 ml more...
When I first used the Pixi Glow Tonic, I was a bit surprised when I felt a very slight stinging on my skin. It isn’t uncomfortable or painful, and I got used to it after a while, so don’t be too alarmed if you get that sensation as well.

At the start, my skin had obvious patches of red rashes and a fair bit of acne scarring. However, I noticed that with consistent usage of the Pixi Glow Tonic over the week, my skin started to look brighter, and the red, patchy rashes were gone. What is also noticeable is that my pores have definitely shrunk, especially around the cheek area where my pores are the largest. Acne has also been reduced, particularly on the cheeks and forehead.

I was very impressed by how fast I saw results, because most skincare products usually take some time to show any visible benefits. I also read online that you probably need at least two weeks before you will notice improvements, but in reality it took me just a few days to see such a big improvement in my skin condition! I’ve also received feedback that my skin looks brighter than before, which is always a sign that a new product is working.I used this toner for about one week, mostly twice a day but occasionally switching to just once on days when my skin felt too dry.

Review for COSRX Centella Water Alchol-Free Toner - 2 weeks, 2 days ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
As with my experience using toners, this pretty much felt just like water. I’m not complaining about that though, because I love skincare stuff that gets absorbed easily by my skin. I don’t like the heavy and oily feeling some products leave on your skin – I can almost imagine my skin clogging up just from that feeling.

My skin is, unfortunately, a fast and accurate reflection of my health, moods, and life in general. When I’m stressed, eating badly, or spent a day getting burnt in the sun (I honestly strongly advise against this), my face immediately reflects the effects after one night’s sleep. There was a period of time that I was quite stressed, and (unfortunately) spent one day sweating in the hot afternoon sun, so the next day my skin immediately broke out with pimples and red patches.

I’ve had experience using toners that actually made the situation even worse but this toner has actually helped to calm my skin down quite a fair bit. I know toners don’t really promise to give you dewy skin, kill all acne etc., but this has been really great for prepping my skin. This definitely doesn’t make my skin itch or feel inflamed when it is dying from the environmental damage inflicted on it.

Review for COSRX One Step Original Clear Pad - 2 weeks, 2 days ago
The first time I used this, the first thought that popped into my mind was how much it smelt like herbs. I think it’s the smell of willow bark – not unpleasant, but not my favourite scent either.

There are 2 sides of the pad, one is slightly more corrugated for you to “scrub” your skin, and other smoother side for you to wipe off any excess dirt and oil. As far as I have observed, the pads do a really good job in exfoliating. I usually use these after I have washed my face with a cleanser, and I still see traces of dirt on the pads (yikes).

I’ve been using these for a few months (70 pads is really a lot) and I’m still nowhere close to finishing them. You shouldn’t be using them everyday anyway – treat this as the exfoliation step in your skincare, and you should just be exfoliating a few times per week. I can safely say that I’ve seen an improvement in my skin condition. The acne is reduced by a fair bit, and my pores don’t feel quite as clogged as they used to.

Review for Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte Lipstick, Pk335 - 2 weeks, 2 days ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Pinks have gradually started phasing out of my favour a little so I ended up not really being a fan of this over time. In any case, I also found out that this pink was too light for me, and also that it was better suited for people with cool undertones, while I definitely needed something more ‘warm’.

However, I am a big fan of how good the colour payoff is. Of course, you might say “it’s a matte lipstick, you should expect good payoff from mattes”. That’s not entirely true tbh, you might be surprised at how some matte lipsticks can give the faintest colour possible.
In the same vein, you would expect mattes to be long-lasting, so I would say this shu uemura lipstick doesn’t disappoint. You can expect this to last through one or two meals, but with just some tinge of colour left by the end of the day.

What really sets this apart from the pack, however, is the comfort it promises and actually delivers. It’s ultra smooth when applied on lips, with no chalky or waxy feeling. It’s very unusual, extremely comfortable, and definitely befitting of the name ‘supreme matte’. This is the BEST matte bullet lipstick formula I have ever tried, and I love it so much that my only regret about this is that I bought it in a shade that isn’t great for me.

Review for ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip - 2 weeks, 4 days ago

Review for: Other more...
Packaging: Identical to the other Colourpop lipsticks. I find this a little problematic because the shades I buy all look pretty similar, and sometimes I can mix them all up. I have to look very carefully at the tube to see if I’m using the blotted, matte, or satin. It’s not a huge problem, just that it would have been great if Colourpop made some slight differences to the packaging for clearer distinction.

Colour: I was kind of prepared that the colour would turn out darker than the nudes and pinks I was used to buying when I saw the marketing photos, but the colour didn’t seem to fit me as well as I had expected. I think it’s a little too much of a dark brown for me, and it made my overall complexion look quite bad. It’s a bit sad because I really quite like this ‘dusty brown pink’ (as Colourpop puts it) The colour payoff is, I think, the best among blotted, satin, and matte. It’s not very surprising, considering that it’s a matte lipstick, but still a noteworthy point.

Staying power: Best staying power I’ve had from a matte lipstick. Ever. I never had to worry about transfer, or having the colour disappear after a meal. In fact, I had the most amount of colour pigments left on my lips at the end of the day when I used this lipstick, and I absolutely loved the convenience of not having to touch up! My lips also didn’t feel uncomfortable at all with this formula – no drying out, no ugly cracking of lips, none of the horrors that usually accompanies matte lipsticks.

Review for MISSHA Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Cream - 3 weeks, 3 days ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Packaging: This packaging is. So. GORGEOUS. Imagine my excitement when I saw the pearlescent lid – totally looks like a pearl nestled in the box! I do think that the rest of the packaging (plastic and all) is quite typical of MISSHA’s skincare products.

Texture: Please don’t imagine that because this cream uses snail mucin, it will have some gooey, sticky texture. This is actually quite watery/aqueous – I can easily apply a thin layer evenly, and it will get absorbed by my skin very well without leaving behind any sticky and oily residue. It doesn’t feel thick at all on my skin and neither does it clog up my huge pores, so I think this is definitely great for people with oily skin.

Effectiveness: I haven’t had much trouble with signs of ageing, but I have to say that this snail mucin is miraculous. I saw results IMMEDIATELY after the night I used this, and everyone commented on how my face suddenly glowed. It was honestly that great. As I mentioned earlier, I started using this because I had a terrible breakout – my face had all these red patches, acne scars, and clogged pores for no good reason (that I can think of). By the next day, half of all my skin problems were gone and my skin looked almost back to normal. After using it for about a week, my skin actually looked even better than it ever had before! It was almost clear of acne, and people around me remarked that it looked more smooth and fair. It’s been a long time since I had a good, long period of almost-clear skin, and it honestly just felt like a miracle.

Review for Innisfree No Sebum Blur Powder - 3 weeks, 3 days ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
My skin tends to get really oily as the day progresses, so I used to bring around oil blotting paper. Unfortunately, oil blotting paper is not exactly cheap, and I often ended up wiping off my makeup at the same time which meant reapplication again and again – the inconvenience was terribly irksome.

However, Innisfree’s powder serves not just as a makeup setting powder, but also as an oil-blotting powder. When I see/feel my skin getting oily (especially my nose and cheeks), I’ll powder the oily areas and ta-da, fresh again! You don’t have to worry about looking overly powdered either because the powder is translucent, giving your face a matte look without looking cakey. I think this oil-blotting function has helped to control my acne problem quite a fair bit, while keeping my base makeup in place.

I’ve also used this powder to make my lip products look matte and last longer. It works really well, without making my lips feel overly dried out. I suppose it does that to your face also (matte & long-lasting, without drying it out).

I’m in love with this product so much that I have never actually tried another setting powder – in fact, I bought 3 more of these in Korea because they were selling these at just 3000 won each!

I don’t always trust online reviews that call products ‘holy grail’ items, but this is one that I’ve been thoroughly sold by. I’m not looking to change my powder anytime soon because one ‘box’ can actually last me for a few months, and partly also because this smells very nice, sort of like talcum powder? In any case, I see no reason to change from something as effective and affordable as this, so I strongly recommend this to everyone as well.

Review for: 1W2 Sand - Warm/Golden Undertone more...
When I use other types of products, I tend to get this oily sheen on my face after a few hours. However, my face has never produced a lot of oil even after more than 6 hours with this Estee Lauder foundation! In fact, my makeup stays on so well that it can survive more than 12 hours in any kind of weather you can think of – hot, rainy, humid, anything! I never found the need to touch up again when I apply this foundation, and always have my base makeup nearly fully intact at the end of the day.

I was initially very overwhelmed by the number of shades available. You must understand that as a consumer who’s been mostly using K-beauty products, I am used to going either one shade lighter or one shade darker than I would like – there is hardly any in between. I took some time to swatch and went with 1W2 because of my warm undertones. Even though it is a very good match, I feel that maybe I would have preferred 1N2, because I didn’t really like how much my warm undertones were showing through. The colour applies evenly, in fact it gives the most even application that I’ve ever gotten from any base product. I really like how my skin immediately looks smoother, brighter, and the colour is more even.

Okay but classy feels aside, I feel that this packaging definitely has its cons. It’s a little heavy due to the glass packaging, but what really irks me is that THERE IS NO PUMP! I read online that apparently you have to buy a separate pump for this, but why!! All the foundations I’ve used so far come with a pump, and even BB creams have tube packaging to make it easier for users to squeeze an appropriate amount. How could this not have a pump??? My heart bleeds every time I pour a little too much than needed on to my brush  It can also get a little messy, so I often get slight dabs of foundation on the cap and other parts of the bottle – so wasted!

I love how this product feels so cooling on my skin! Best part is, you can apply it to not only your face, but also your arms, legs etc. I've even read about using it on your scalp! Definitely would recommend!
