Review for: Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder 0.67 oz more...
Like most people who can't seem to escape their adolescence, my skin is extremely oily, so it's difficult for me to find a product that helps keep that contained. However, I've found that the Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder does the best job of all of the setting powders I've tried in the past.
While it doesn't necessarily keep me matte all the live-long day like I would hope, it does, however, last long enough to get me through the work day. That's at least acceptable, since the last thing I want to be worrying about during a 2 pm meeting is my makeup breaking down.
Furthermore, a little really does go a long way with this stuff. You don't feel like you have to slather it on to get good staying power. That's good, too, because this stuff is not cheap; you really are getting what you pay for, though.
I highly recommend this if you're just asking for this to last about 8 hours -- anything longer and you'll probably need something more heavy duty.
Like many others, I also received Keep Up the Flame and Constant Toast in my VoxBox. Keep Up the Flame is a vampish, brick red that's perfect for a wide variety of skintones. This shade goes on opaque with only one coat. Constant Toast is a very light peach with high frost. This shade, however, is extremely sheer and would not work for most skintones.
Since I found Constant Toast to be unusable, I focused my testing solely around Keep Up the Flame. This is the only reason why the review is not a full 5 stars.
I'm almost always skeptical of two-step liquid lipsticks because of past experiences with other similar products that have the same claims as this one. However, the main difference between those and the Maybelline SuperStay 24 Hour liquid lipstick is that this one actually works.
As a DC resident, my weekends are often filled with brunches, coffee, cocktails-- and sloppily falling asleep at the end of it all. My usual go-to lipsticks would require reapplication of the color somewhere around hour six of wear, but that was definitely not the case here. Did I have to reapply the balm half? Yes, absolutely. That's a given. However, to my surprise, I did not have to touch up the lip color once. NOT EVEN ONCE. I even fell asleep with this on and it was fully intact the next morning.
I'm so pleased with Keep Up The Flame. When my friends learn that I got this free from Influenster to test, they were floored. I'd like to give all of the rest of their darker shades a try if they all perform as well as this shade. The lighter shades just aren't up to par.
When it comes to my eyeliner, I want it to be the blackest black and with a flick so sharp, it kills. I've tried many other luxury eyeliner brands, but none of them come close to meeting my needs. This eyeliner is advertised as being "Stay All Day" and it truly does live up to that standard. As someone with extremely sensitive and watery eyes, this eyeliner even stays put in my sea of an inner corner. It definitely is not one to be missed.
Jansport backpacks truly are the real deal. I've had mine for close to ten years now and it's still sturdy and intact! This thing has seen trips across states and countries, it's seen collegiate and city life, it's seen awful weather. However, there is nary a single hole, tear, or broken piece to my backpack. While I've been tempted to get a new one recently, there's no way that it's going to hold up as well as the old standby.
These wipes are great for cutting down the time I spend cleaning my face in the morning! I love that they lightly moisturize my face while clearing away dirt and oil. They also effortlessly remove eye shadow, mascara, blush and lipstick. The only downside I've seen from these so far is that it does take quite a bit of effort to completely remove any eyeliner: gel, liquid, pencil. I have to scrub for a few minutes to get it all off. However, I don't mind putting in the effort since I've saved time -- and water -- on the rest of my routine!
I've gone through many, many eye pencils through the years (mostly during my scene kid phase; you had to have a lot of eyeliner for that style!) but none of them could match in quality compared to what I experienced with the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. Other eyeliners budge and migrate after a few hours, but I can wear Demolition (the brown shade) for almost the entire day before I see even the smallest bit of wear. You get a ton of product in this pencil, too, which makes it so worth the $20 price point. Wonderful. I'm also a die-hard fan of the 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner!
If you do a simple Google search on Cassandra Claire and her rash of plagiarism, you'd quickly learn that the majority of this book is plagiarized from other sources such as movies, TV shows and other fanfiction authors. She's disgusting and it says volumes about the state of the literary industry when known plagiarists are becoming famous from their "work" when actual legitimate authors get no recognition.
Even though I used to exclusively buy from CoverGirl (oh, weren't those the days), I stopped for a long time once I discovered, well, other brands. Once these were released, I figured I would give the brand one last chance before I wrote them off forever. This product in Forever Pink, though, is quite possibly the most disappointing cosmetic product I have ever used. I have quite fair-toned skin, so I expected the pink shade to be a nice highlight color or a good base, since it was a cream shadow. However, there is little to none pigmentation involved in this shadow; I had to layer and layer and layer it on in order to even get the color to show up. Obviously, it took a while to dry at that point, but even if I used one layer, it would take about five minutes to dry completely. Even more, I couldn't even get out the door for the day without this product creasing excessively. It was a really poor base, too, because of the creasing. I'm never going back to CoverGirl.
I really like the simplicity of not having to go through the complicated process of making cold-brew coffee when I'm craving something cooler. This product does have a great variety of flavors, however, no matter which flavor I try, I always get a really weird after taste and a film along the roof of my mouth. I don't think I'll get it again for a while.
