Review for: Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream Creme Hydratante more...
I was one of the lucky peeps to be sent the Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream from Influenster I've been using this cream for ages now (I think I tried it back in 2015?) but I did decide to wait a week to see if my feelings toward it have changed any - nope, still love it! This is such a great cream for combination-dry skin; it has a lovely emollient texture and sinks in rapidly without leaving a greasy film on the skin. But oh, does it moisturize! Looking at the ingredients list, you wouldn't think this cream to be anything special. The first three ingredients are water, butylene glycol, and dimethicone, with some emollients and a few seed oils thrown in. However, the cream itself is a very lightweight, absorbable texture that somehow also manages to lock in moisture like a champ and make skin feel incredibly smooth and soft. It makes the perfect morning moisturizer for me, as a last step before makeup. It does a great job of moisturizing my skin (I live in a dry climate, so having adequately moisturized skin is a big concern for me) without making my makeup melt and slide around on my skin, which is a huge plus. This is great to use day or night, although I don't think this will be sufficiently moisturizing for very dry skin types. At night I like to layer a sleeping pack/facial oil on top, and I wake up with nice, healthy looking skin. If you're looking for your moisturizer to pack a little more punch (brightening, firming, anti-aging, etc), you may want to look elsewhere, but if you just need a solid, dependable moisturizer, you really can't go wrong with this small blue jar.
I've been trying to incorporate less meat and more vegetarian/vegan meals into my daily meal plans, so I was really hoping I could find a great chicken substitute that tasted at least close to the real thing. Unfortunately, these tasted so weird...they look nothing at all like they do on the package; the texture was very rubbery and no matter how much seasoning I put, they still were somehow flavorless, while having this weird, overwhelmingly fake "meat" taste that I can't quite describe. I tried really hard to push past the weird texture and awful taste, but I just wound up throwing these away in the end. I definitely don't recommend these, which is a shame because MorningStar Farms usually has pretty good vegetarian options.
These Spring Valley melatonin gummies are AMAZING! They're the best tasting melatonin gummies I've tried so far (better than Sundown brand) and I fall asleep within minutes of taking these, and stay asleep all night. I may be one of the lucky ones since I've heard melatonin doesn't work for everyone, but these have become a must-have for both myself and my fiancé who suffers from insomnia. If you have sleep issues/a sleep disorder, I highly recommend trying out a melatonin supplement in lieu of a sleeping pill. Especially these, which taste so good!
I received the Repechage C-Serum Seaweed Filtrate Serum from the brand free for review. This little serum is chock-full of seaweed-y goodness; after water, algae is the second ingredient, making it pretty potent. A highly concentrated seaweed extract serum, C-Serum is rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, and it helps skin retain moisture and helps to prevent the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Repechage's products are all cruelty-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, and made exclusively in the USA. It's suitable for all skin types, especially skin that has early signs of aging with dehydration, fine lines, uneven skin tone, and blotchiness. It also would work well for oilier skin types that are prone to breakouts, as its oil-free formula helps replenish lost moisture without weighing down skin or clogging pores. The C-Serum comes in a heavy 30ml glass bottle with a plastic pump dispenser. Despite its name, the C-Serum is not a vitamin C serum, but rather a highly concentrated sea weed serum, with Laminaria Digitata (Seaweed) Extract and Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) as key ingredients. These are natural sources of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, and help to soften, brighten, and replenish lost moisture to skin. As far as scent goes, this serum does have a rather potent, ocean-y scent; I can definitely detect seaweed. I actually kind of like the scent (is it weird to like how seaweed smells? Ha!), it reminds me of my childhood memories at the beach. If you're very sensitive to scents in your products, the smell might be a bit much, but I can't smell it once applied. The serum is a very watery, amber colored liquid that dispenses from the pump easily. I only need about 1-2 pumps to cover my entire face. I've used it twice daily for about a month, as per the instructions, and my bottle is almost empty, so one bottle has about 30 days worth of product. Since the serum itself is so watery, I apply it before any of my essences or thicker serums, and it sinks in almost immediately, leaving behind a slightly tacky finish that disappears completely after a few minutes. I do notice an immediate plumping/hydrating effect when I use this, but the real magic came from using it regularly for a few weeks - while I didn't notice much goin' on at first, after 3 weeks or so, my skin definitely started taking on a more healthy, "from the inside" type of glow, and where my skin is usually parched and dull by the end of the day, it's had a much easier time hanging on to moisture. I was honestly a bit disenchanted with this for the first couple weeks of use, as I didn't notice anything beyond mild hydration and subtle brightening, which for $60 a bottle is just not enough. I'm so glad I stuck with this little serum though; I think this is one of those products where it will take a little while to notice any big changes, but will definitely work some inner magic by repairing and brightening your complexion. As much as I love immediate, palpable results (which is why I love the instant gratification of sheet masks so much), I really appreciate a product that can truly repair my skin and prevent future fine lines and dehydration, especially one that's no fuss, sinks in quickly, and doesn't leave behind any stickiness or irritation. I'd definitely consider buying this serum again in the future (maybe when $60 won't put such a dent in my finances) now that I've seen the long term effects it can have on my skin. Highly recommended!
I received a 60-count container of Repechage Eye Rescue Pads free from the brand for review, and I actually wound up loving them! These came at a great time, because I was in the market for some new eye patches. These aren't like most eye patches I've used that are in a tear-drop shape - these are circular, and your eyes need to be closed when using them. At first I really didn't like the idea of having to have my eyes closed while wearing these, but after awhile, I got used to it. It was actually kind of nice being without any visual stimuli for 10 minutes; I like to listen to music or podcasts while wearing these, or just relax and reflect on my day. Soon I actually started looking forward to my time using them! These eye pads have a bunch of awesome ingredients, such as green tea leaf extract, rooibos leaf extract, chamomile flower oil, yerba mate leaf extract, aloe vera juice, algae extracts, and cucumber extract. All of these ingredients are great for soothing, brightening, and de-puffing eyes. I like to leave these on for a bit longer than the recommended 10 minutes, but even after 10 minutes, my eyes look so noticeably brighter! There's definitely a cooling effect and some mild tingling upon application, but that fades after a few minutes. The brightening effect is so noticeable that after removing these the first time I used them, there was a noticeable ring around my eyes where my eye area was much brighter than the surrounding skin. It was actually really funny (if not a bit alarming, I looked like a reverse panda!). I don't notice any irritation while using these, and my eyes feel moisturized and soothed. Overall, these have to be the best eye patches I've ever used, and $38 isn't too bad for the phenomenal results they deliver. Definite new fave!
I received the Temptu Base Smooth & Matte Primer in my last Ipsy Glam Bag. I really enjoy using this primer, and am considering purchasing the full size! I'm always in the market for a new primer, so I was excited to try one that claims to keep my face matte and my pores looking smaller all day. I've used this product a few times already, and so far it does seem to keep my makeup in place and prevent the oilies from attacking. We'll see how it holds up in summer when it my sebum production is in overdrive.
I received this Ciate London Gelology Top Coat in my last Ipsy Glam Bag. This top coat promises salon-worthy shine, long-lasting wear, and that plump and full look that you just can't get from plain polish. Can we talk about this top coat for a second? I am obsessed with Ciate London (both their makeup and polishes), and this pretty silver bottle only cements my love for them. While I don't really need another top coat (I have too many as it is), I've already dipped into this one to see how it will hold up to my beloved Formula X top coat, and I have to say, I'm impressed! It lasts 4-5 days without chipping, and makes my nails look shiny and flawless. However, at $17 a bottle, I don't think this top coat is good enough to replace my Formula X one. Still, it's a good polish nonetheless, and the packaging is adorable! I think it would make a great gift as well.
I received a sample of the Aloha Daily Good Greens Whole Food Original Blend powder for free in a recent Daily Goodie Box. This Daily Good Greens whole food powder claims to energize you and provide nutrients that make you feel great using a mix of naturally-occurring vitamin D and a whole serving of fruits and vegetables. I love using packets like these to mix into my smoothies, and this one adds a subtle chocolate flavor but doesn't taste like "greens". These packets are definitely pricey though - one packet works out to about $2.60, so for that price, they better be damn good. Although I will add some bonus points for it being chocolate flavored.
I received a sample of the Vermont Smoke & Cure Pepper Beef & Pork Stick variety for free in a recent Daily Goodie Box, and it was honestly one of the yummiest meat sticks I've ever tried! These snack sticks, crafted with lean, humanely-raised beef and pork, cracked pepper, and a classic mix of spices, make the perfect on-the-go snack for a quick kick of protein. They're also made without sodium nitrate or preservatives, and are gluten-free, nut-free, and dairy-free. But what's really incredible about these little meat sticks are just how amazing they taste - they're absolutely bursting with flavor, and I could easily see myself eating like 10 in one sitting. SO GOOD.
I received the Nature's Bakery Whole Wheat Raspberry Fig Bars for free in a recent Daily Goodie Box. Honestly, I'm hooked! Ever had Fig Newtons? These raspberry fig bars are like their beefier, better-tasting cousins - made with stone ground whole wheat and 110 calories per serving, these yummy little bars are soy-free, dairy-free, and cholesterol-free, and contain no high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors/flavors. They're not quite as sweet as Fig Newtons, but they definitely taste more "real" and natural, and are more filling as well with fewer calories. I'm definitely going to pick up a few more of these to keep in my car or at my desk for quick, on-the-go snacking. Highly recommended!
