Review for L'Oréal Paris True Match™ Powder - 1 year ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I bought this at my local CVS for $11.99, plus tax. I thought that was kind of expensive for a drugstore powder and then noticed that was it on sale. But the prices of drugstore products has been going up so, I wasn't surprised. I purchased the lightest neutral shade and intended to use it as a powder foundation. But, I ended up not being able to use it at all. The lightest shade was too dark for my super pale skin. In fact, it looked orange on me. On the plus side, it offers good coverage as a powder foundation: light to medium. It was pretty buildable. It also didn't break my sensitive skin out and it didn't have a strong fragrance that caused any allergy/asthmatic reactions. I give this a 3 star for those reasons. I would give it 5 stars if they had a shade light enough for me.

Review for Milani The Multitasker Face Powder - 1 year ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I bought this from the Milani website since I couldn't find it near me. I think it was between $12-14, I can't remember the exact amount. I really did enjoy using this powder except for one thing: the smell. It had a strong fragrance and it hung around after applying the powder. I am sensitive and have a lot of allergies as well as asthma that is triggered by frangrances/perfumes. So I had to stop using the powder. If it wasn't for that, I would still be using the product as it looked very nice as a finishing powder or alone on light makeup days.

Review for Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder - 1 year ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
This used to be my go to powder (when I wore makeup more often). You can find it in drugstores for under $5 and it gives you an okay matte finish. I say okay because my face never stayed matte very long, but I also live in a humid, southern state and I'm outside a lot. During the summer months, that meant makeup practically melted off of my face. But I still bought this powder because it held up better than other drugstore powders (of the ones I had tried). At this price point, I think it's a good idea to at least give it a try if you have normal, combination or oily skin. I'm not sure how well this powder works/looks on dry skin.

Review for No7 Youthful Eye Serum - 1 year ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I bought this at Target for $28 and I'm not impressed. I've used it morning and evening as part of my skin care routine for months but haven't seen that it has made any difference. The box claims: "targets key signs of aging around the eyes with this effective serum. Our advanced formula with a blend of hyaluronic acid, vitamin c and soft focus spheres instantly smoothes, revitalizes and brightens the appearance of skin to give a youthful radiance around the eyes...visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles including crow's feet...reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness." It's reduced the appearance of nothing, but it has moisturized my eye area. Still, I won't be repurchasing this. There are good eye creams out there at a similar price point and I'm going to find one.

Review for: Rebel Rose, Missy and Fierce more...
I have heard so many ladies sing the praises of these liquid lipsticks. So I had to give them a try. I bought "Missy and Fierce" (a bright red) and "Rebel Rose" (a dusty rose/mauve) at my CVS for $4.99 each. I'm hooked. These are so pigmented and they dry matte, which I love. I've eaten some oily, greasy foods while wearing these and they've survived without requiring a touch up. Rebel Rose has better lasting power than Missy and Fierce, but I don't find that to be a problem. The packaging is nice and the applicator makes it easy to apply these shades. I will be getting the rest of these asap!

Review for Irish Spring Original Deodorant Soap - 1 year, 3 months ago
I grew up using Irish Spring so that classic smell of it is very nostalgic for me.  I bought a bar of it hoping to enjoy it just as much as I did then, but sadly I did not.  Yes, I still love the scent of a bar of classic Irish Spring soap, but I find it really drying on my skin now.  It just strips the moisture from my skin.  It isn't anything a little moisturizer post-shower can't fix, but I wish that it was a little more moisturizing than it is.

Review for NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - 1 year, 3 months ago

Review for: Stockholm more...
I love a good matte lip, but hate how drying so many formulas are.  I bought one of these for around $5 at Target and fell in love.  It was easy to apply and had opaque and even pigmentation.  I went back to Target later that week and picked up several more colors.  The first one that I purchased was in "Stockholm" which looks like a deep nude on some of friends, but looks coral on me.  I love it.  I wear it all the time and one tube lasts a long time because I don't have to re-apply it as much as a regular lipstick.  I love the range of colors that NYX offers, from nudes, pinks, reds, to fun deep or bright colors.  I also like to mix shades and create a totally new shade or use a darker shade on the corners of my lips and a lighter shade in the middle to contour my lips.

Review for Vaseline® Lip Therapy® Original Mini - 1 year, 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I used to have a serious lip balm addiction.  I always had 3 on me and would re-apply them regularly.  Naturally, this meant my lips were in terrible shape: they were constantly cracked and would bleed.  But I read about how women used to use Vaseline in their beauty and skincare routines and decided I would make a switch.  I would stop using my lip balms (for a time) and go with plain Vaseline instead.  I have never looked back.  I never went back to using regular lip balm again.  My lips are so soft now and I have been using Vaseline for a year now without any chapped, cracked or bleeding lips.  I am team Vaseline all the way.

Review for POND's Cold Cream Cleanser - 1 year, 3 months ago
I know this is a cult classic cleanser but I have put off trying it for years.  I had extremely oily skin as a teenager with a lot of breakouts and thought this would ruin my skin so I stayed far away.  Now that I'm older (and I hope wiser), I decided to give it a shot.

I picked up the smaller sized jar that I saw while getting groceries.  It was cheap and fit what I needed at the time (something different to remove my waterproof mascara). I have a cosmetic spoon that I purchased inexpensively from Walmart that I use to get product out of the jar since it isn't very hygienic to stick your fingers straight into it. I apply it in an thin, even layer over my dry face and neck and let it sit for a few minutes.  Then I take a muslin face cloth, dampened with warm water, and gently wipe it away. I give the cloth one last rinse and pat my face with it.  I usually don't rinse my face after or apply toner since my skin is on the dry side now.

Makeup just melts off of the face with this.  I don't need to do any extra steps or cleaning of my skin.  I used a cotton round to test and all cosmetic products were completely gone from my face.  I've noticed, after using this for several weeks that my skin is softer and clearer than it's ever been.  The inflammation that I've struggled with since my mid-20's is going away and my skin is plumper too.  Now I see why this product has such a cult following.  It has pretty much replaced all my other, more expensive, cleansers and moisturizers.
