I am a 42 year old homeschooling mom of 3 by day and barista by night. I am rediscovering a love of make up and was excited to find influenster to organize my collections, preferences, and wish lists. Despite my age I have very large pores and acne prone skin, so it can be a challenge to find the right products.
I have been shopping at Old Navy off and on for years! I used to really hate going to the mall, but when I finally made my way out there I found Old Navy to have amazingly low prices for good quality clothes. I enjoy buying clothes for my toddler and tween there. I love their wide variety of styles of jeans for many body shapes. As a plus size woman I appreciate their variety of plus sized clothes as well.
I received a sample of this product in my April Birchbox. I always start my daily routine with an SPF moisturizer and then I put the Marcelle BB Cream over it. I thought this Golden Glow had come at the perfect time because I had just started to get some sun and was concerned about my face staying pale because I've been trying really hard to keep the SPF on it. The product had no discernible smell, which I really enjoyed. I used a small amount since the sample was so small and spread it as best I could. My face felt smooth but the cream didn't do much to disguise my enlarged pores and redness, definitely not enough coverage for my aging, damaged skin to be used alone. I didn't really notice the effect of the BB Cream at all until I put my powder foundation over it. The combination was sooooo glamorous. Combining this product with powder foundation seemed to bring out the dewy quality and the subtle golden glow made my skin look more healthy and tanned. The glamorous glow stayed in place all day and the next morning my skin seemed softer and smoother. I had been trying to decide if I wanted to use a bronzer this summer but now that I have tried this Marcelle BB Cream in Golden Glow, I may use this instead. My only concern is that there is not enough product in the 2.4 oz sample to discern whether it will cause breakouts over extended use and this is one of my main problems and concerns with facial products.
I tried gel eyeliner in the past and never figured out how to make it look nice. My hand shakes and I'm not terribly artistic. But a long time love of Maybelline products, reading the reviews here on Influenster, and watching a bunch of YouTube videos inspired me to take a risk and try Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. Totally a game changer! Even though on the first try I managed clean lines with the enclosed brush. On the second try I actually got a wing! As other reviewers mentioned, I found I have to clean the brush after every use or it makes a mess and it becomes impossible to get clean lines. Other than that I adore this product and hope to get it in every color!
I got the pearl white and it didn't really show up on the waterline like it showed in the picture on the box. As best I can tell it does stay put, I've started using it every day. It gives a highlighted look but not a clean or noticeable line.
I wore this for 6 hours last night, munching, drinking, and smoking a bit but not sitting down for a whole meal. I enjoyed the feeling on my lips, I didn't find it tacky or sticky at all. I definitely liked how it wasn't drying on my lips, they felt very soft all day and there was still some pigmentation when I went to bed. The intensity doesn't last as long as I would prefer.
I have generally a good opinion of CoverGirl but when I look at my makeup collection, I don't currently use any of their products, just occasionally the Clean foundation when I'm in the mood for lighter coverage. I seem to connect more with Maybelline. I guess I generally equate CoverGirl with a very young image and I am over 40 now.
Although sometimes I get overwhelmed here, I just love it. The prices are reasonable and I love being able to compare the drug store and department store brands all in one place. There are always great bogo specials going on and the staff are very supportive and informative.
