Review for Kiehl's Clearly Corrective™ Dark Spot Solution - 2 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I'm updating my review after using the product for two full months, so this review has been re-written!

I have seen improvements in certain places on my face since using this.  For the first month, I rubbed the product on and the second month, I dabbed it in.  Rubbing, I use two drops and dabbing requires three for my whole face.  Unfortunately, I didn't see a big difference from the way I applied it.  The area around the bottom of my nose has evened in tone, and the rest of my face seems to have evened in tone too.  That's great, however, it wasn't the reason I wanted the product.

I have an unfortunate amount of scarring in places and I have seen a slight lightening in those places, but nothing dramatic.  Some of these scars are probably quite old so I'm not sure it's even possible to lighten them.  I will say that it took two months to really look at my face and say it may have lightened them.  It takes a while, and I've been following the directions, using it twice a day.  Unfortunately, it hasn't done enough for me to say it's a great product that I'd buy.  I will finish this bottle, and if anything dramatic changes before I get to the end of it, I'll update.

There are things I like about it, though!  The dispenser and the way you apply it is easy and allows me not to lose any product.  I have oily skin but I haven't had any issues with it making my oiliness worse or anything.  I didn't have any reactions to it.  It sinks into my skin quickly.  The difference is in application; if I rub it on, it disappears almost immediately and you'd never know I had anything on.  If I dab it on, using more product, it takes longer to sink in and has a bit of a stickier feel at first, which does disappear after it dries.  I do use this product under makeup without issue.  The texture is nice and the amount of product you get will last a good long while.  I'd recommend this product to anyone that wants to even their skin tone!

I'll close by saying I received this product free from Influenster in exchange for an honest review!

Review for: Porcelain more...
Despite having very high hopes for trying this foundation, I'm unfortunately in the minority that can't use it.  I have oily skin, and this product doesn't mix well with it.

When I first put it on, and for the first short while, it performs fine.  It feels very light weight, isn't tacky on the skin, and is buildable, but the shades could be better for pale skin.  The coverage is medium, and I did have to build in a few places.  Because I have oily skin, I did set it with powder, hoping that would offset any problems, but it didn't help at all.  I like the packaging, and the fact that it has a pump applicator.  It does have a slight perfume smell, which I don't like.  It's not overpowering but it is totally unnecessary.

I tested this product for 8 hours, and it was a dry winter day, so I wasn't doing much sweating.  However, by the end of the 8 hours, it was breaking down and it had creased in lines that I didn't know I had.  I was just as oily on my forehead as I would have been without anything on my face.

I gave it two stars because I feel that if you have dry skin, this foundation would probably work very well for you.  For me, however, I'll stick with Revlon.

Review for: 320 Porcelain, 325 Eggshell more...
This product is a step above other drugstore concealers.  Believe me, I've tried a lot of concealers in a lot of shades, and never before have I found a shade this near to perfect for my skin.  Let's get into the details!

As for shades; the first one I bought was the shade Porcelain, because it was the palest shade, and drugstore concealers are never pale enough for me.  I gave it a try and was shocked to find out that it was actually too pale.  This product does not oxidize, so the color you see when you first put it on is the color it's staying.  I would describe Porcelain as a pale cool tone, as it was too pink for my skin.  I went back and bought Eggshell instead, the next shade up.  This one has a more yellow undertone, and was perfect for me, so if you're pale and warm toned, go for this one!

Now for performance.  I was very surprised at how little goes how far with this product.  One dab will cover a pretty large area, so don't overdo it or you'll be left wiping off excess!  The coverage I got out of one layer was pretty amazing too.  It's a thick product and goes a long way, so I think this tube will last a long time.  Also, you get 10ml, which is more than your average concealer, so I think this is an excellent deal for the price.  This product is also buildable, and can be blended with a dense brush without much product loss.  The only thing I've noticed is that it's more prone to showing creases but honestly, to me it's worth it.

The packaging is also very nice.  Because of the larger tube size, it's not always falling over on my counter and triggering a domino effect like my thinner tubes, thank goodness!  The product does have a mild perfume smell that it could do without.  It's not strong enough to bother me but it's really unnecessary in a product like this.

All in all, this product is something I've waited a long time for and I will keep purchasing it!

Review for Square Enix Final Fantasy VII - 4 months ago
I was very late playing this game, and only recently picked it up this year second hand for the Playstation 1.  I've played titles X and on but hadn't played anything earlier.  In anticipation for the remake, I thought I'd give this beloved game a try, and I'm really glad I did!

The story has to get mentioned first, because it's my favorite thing about the game.  The game starts by throwing you into a bit of action, and right away, you want to know more about these characters and why they're doing what they're doing.  It sucked me in during my first couple hours of playing.  I knew a few spoilers here and there going into the game, but I didn't know any details and many twists were still new to me.  My fiance and I played it together and we had fun discussing the plot and theorizing as it went along.  I loved how there were so many characters you could play throughout the game, and I enjoyed getting to know each of them and their reasons for being on the mission.  It's been a bit since I completed the game, and I've moved on to the next in the series, but my mind still goes back to this one, and I know I'll replay it again and this time aim to complete more sidequests.  On the first playthrough, I was very happy to find that you could get away with not doing a lot of sidequests.  Some of the ultimate weapons, I didn't go after either.  I love that this game is good for a casual player.

Now for battles and leveling up.  I very much enjoyed the battle gameplay in this one.  It's turn-based, and your little timer must fill before you can choose to make your move.  From here, you can choose different options but for most of the game, I only used the attack option, or the Limit Break, once that gauge filled.  I probably only used the Summon feature once or twice, so it's not something you need to spam to get decent HP taken off.  The speed that the characters leveled up was perfect for me.  I didn't need to spend hours grinding, which is lucky, because I was too interested in the story to hang around anywhere for long!  I only had to spend time doing that near the end, getting where I thought I would need to be to fight the final boss, but turns out I didn't really need to do that either.  The only thing I would recommend grinding to increase is the points to level up some of the materia.  For me, the biggest helps were HP Plus, Curaga, and Double Cut, which leveled up to 4x Cut.

The only gripe I have is that the game wasn't longer and even more in depth!  The remake has the potential to be amazing, depending on how they handle the battle system.  I can easily see why everyone loves this game.  It's darker than I expected, but I loved that about it.  So, if you're on the fence about giving this a try, definitely do so!  You won't regret it!
This product did not disappoint! I'll first say that I'm not really a fan of rose scented products, but I will not let that fact phase my review, as that's only opinion. Now, on to the product itself! The packaging itself is unique and comfortable to use. The top, where the deodorant comes out, is smooth and helps the product to glide on easily. You'll think the amount of clicks it tells you to use isn't enough product but it is! The shape and design is attractive enough and it takes up less space in the cabinet than normal containers. The product soaks in and dries very quickly once applied, just as it says it should.

For the performance test, I used it in a few different scenarios. First, I wore it at home all day while doing housework and cleaning pet's cages, and it did perfectly. I didn't notice any sweating and the smell of rose hung around the entire day. If that scent is for you, then so is this deodorant! For the next test, I wore it all day at home, and then got up and worked out the next morning. While there was some sweat, I didn't notice any bad smells, so it also passed that test.

The real test came when I went out for the day and did some driving. I'm an anxious person, and so when I go out and especially when I drive, I start stress sweating, usually even before I leave the house, in anticipation. However, I was shocked to experience no sweating this time. I did a lot of walking that day too. When I got back home to change into something more comfortable, I had a sniff and I still smelled like rose. No sweat smell, only rose!

I normally use Dove's clinical strength deodorant but it never holds up nearly as well as this, despite having almost twice as much of the aluminum ingredient in it. I'm sure the jasmine scented one would be perfect for me, as that's my favorite floral scent, but for now, I'll happily use this one up, confident that it'll hold up in any situation!

Review for: Baby Blossom more...
My favorite blush!  I picked this up because I'd heard the formula was good, and I wasn't disappointed.  I bought the shade Baby Blossom, which in store, is advertised as a color for skin with cool undertones.  I have fair skin and warm undertones, but didn't like the shades available on that side, so I gave this a try anyway.  To me, the shade is perfect for my skin, and it looks very natural!  In the pan, it looks quite light, and I wondered if it would show up on my skin or look too light, but it doesn't.

As for the formula, it's very soft and smooth.  It's easily buildable and perfectly pigmented so that you never start with too much on your brush.  It blends out easily too.  I like the packaging, including the nice big pan.  I've been using this for a long while now and have hardly made a dent in it, so it lasts a good amount of time.

I highly recommend this product, and I'd be happy if they came out with more shades to try!  Though I don't really need to try any other shade, this is definitely the one for me!

Review for: Sassy Mauve more...
I finally bought my first lipstick from this line and I'm left wondering why it took me so long!  I've tried a lot of drugstore lipsticks but this is my favorite formula.  It has such a creamy application and feels like you're putting on chapstick!  I couldn't believe how comfortable it was.

I like the simple packaging too.  It's on the smaller end of drugstore lipsticks and would be easy to keep in your pocket, especially compared to Maybelline's square packaging.  I didn't pick up any smell from this lipstick, which I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate.

I can't wait to try more colors from this line!  I'd highly recommend this, especially to people who don't normally like the way lipstick feels.

This is absolutely my favorite lotion!  I've tried quite a few lotions over the years because I have very dry hands that can often crack and become painful.  I've tried special creams and everything else too.  I tried this one because I saw someone on a forum recommend it for cracked hands, and I'm so glad I did.  Since I started using this, which has been about two weeks, I haven't had a single crack in any of my fingers, and that's very rare for me.  Usually I'll have one or two at a time and even once they heal, they can re-open.  I've been using Working Hands cream to heal the cracks, which is fine, but I wanted something preventative.

The formula of this lotion is on the thicker end, which I like.  The more you use, the longer it takes to soak in.  I often use a little more than necessary and just refrain from touching anything for a couple of minutes.  Once it sinks in, my hands feel nice and moisturized.  It doesn't have a greasy formula or anything either.  The smell is quite faint, because I haven't noticed one.  I would highly recommend this to anyone that has tried everything else!

Update: I had to come back on and update my review of this lotion.  I continued using it and am almost through the whole bottle now.  I'm taking off two stars because the miracle work that I saw over the first week or so of using it didn't last, unfortunately.  After a couple of weeks of the same use, my fingers starting getting just as dry and cracked as with other lotions.  Sadly, the hunt must continue!

Review for L'Oréal Paris EverPure Moisture Shampoo - 7 months, 1 week ago

I love the Loreal Ever line of shampoos, so it's no surprise this was another good one.  The only thing I could live without was the scent, but it's not enough to make me think it's gross or anything.

The texture of the shampoo is really nice, a soft fluffy cream.  It goes on easily, but then as I start rinsing it, it starts to have an oily feeling about it.  Because of this, it takes on the longer end to rinse out of my hair.  People that like quick showers might not like that factor.  It does leave my hair feeling nice and it doesn't weigh it down or anything, which is great, because I have fine hair that is easily weighed down.

I would probably purchase this again for every day use!
