Needed for blending grains as the normal container pushes the blended grains toward the sides and don't hit the blades. Is quite pricey and sure have came with the shorter tamper, I sure not be expected to pay separate for one, it sure have came with the kit. Container does hold up well and no issues with the container itself. I would have gave 5 stars if it came with the shorter tamper.

I enjoy making my own corn meal and fresh ground flour with the help of this container. It provides a nice consistency at a fraction of the time it takes to use a grain mill. I highly recommend it.

Never pound the counter endlessly trying to make crumbs out of gingersnaps again! Makes great flour too.

Great container for blending grains and unlike the normal container this one is designed to push the blended content up where the normal one is designed to pull down. The only down side is that the tamper for the full size container is to long and can get caught..l this should be obvious but I made the mistake my first time using it as it didn't say anything about a different tamper in the instructions or guides or even the DVD. There is a smaller tamper available but it is sold separately. Just a tale of caution... I did call Vitamix and they are replacing it for me at no charge and were super easy to deal with.
