Ok so let’s talk about the Vincent Longo Cosmetics (‘VLC’) Cream to Powder Highlighter in Mermaid Muse*. Now unlike its rather famous counterpart, namely the La Belle Luce Highlighter (which comes in a powder compact format) the VLC Cream to Powder Highlighter has been made using the VLC revolutionary format which comprises a combination of 75% Microwater and Seaweed Extract.

These two characteristics combined means that any patches of dry skin together with any imperfections and fine/age lines are smoothed out. The net result of this is a very smooth make-up application process and a seamless blend of the make-up onto the skin.

In terms of how the product looks on the skin, the Mermaid Muse is a lovely ethereal like peach colour with subtle shimmer. This is very Spring and Summer appropriate but it is also good for adding a bit of colour and warmth to the skin in the colder months.

It comes in two shades namely Mermaid Muse and Lucky Light. I have sampled the Mermaid Muse and found it to be a subtle yet an effective product in delivering an illuminated appearance to the skin without looking overbearing.

The product is moist and cool to touch and you do have to employ a gentle hand when picking up the product from the compact (the top layer of the highlighter is susceptible to breakage and if you’re anything like me, you want to keep it as tidy and as pretty looking as possible!).

I have preferred to use the product using my fingers as you can control the application process a lot better that way. I like to apply the highlighter to my brow bones, I sweep this out to my temples, a bit on the cheeks and finally on the cupids bow. You can also use this as a lip topper over, for instance, a matte liquid lipstick.

Finally in respect of longevity the product is definitely long lasting and will see even the most oily of complexions through the day. The product retails at £32 and you get 11.5 grams of product which will last you a considerable amount of time. I am happy to put my name to this product as it has been a pleasure to use.

My final comments would be that if you are looking for a highlighter which blends seamlessly with the skin and does not simply just sit on it (as the vast mass of highlighters usually do) then this product is for you.
