The Carters are an all-American family on their way to California when their car breaks down far from civilization in the remote southwestern desert. But they are not alone. Watching from the hills is a very different kind of clan, a family of marauding inbred cannibals with an unspeakable taste for human flesh and monstrous brutality. In the nightmare that follows, what depravities must this wholesome family endure to survive? And in a primal wasteland ruled by lust and rage, who will become the most shocking savages of all? Dee Wallace, James Whitworth, Susan Lanier and Michael Berryman co-star in this disturbing cult classic written and directed by horror-master Wes Craven ("Last House on the Left", "A Nightmare on Elm Street", "Scream". Audio commentary with writer/director Wes Craven and producer Peter Locke, 2 featurttes: "Looking Back at the HIlls Have Eyes"; "The Directors: The Films of Wes Craven", Alternate ending, Theatrical trailers, TV spots, Behind-the-scenes photos.

One of the most beautifully disgusting movies ever made, Alexandra Aja's gory remake of The Hills Have Eyes deserves to be spoken of in the same reverential breath in which one discusses classics like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Evil Dead.

The Hills Have Eyes pretty much the same structure, beat-for-beat, as Wes Craven's 1977 classic of the same name. However, it never feels like a rehash. Aja pumps new life into each shot, adding creative flourishes that make it feel incredibly fresh.

Visually, the film is stunning. You can literally feel heat rising from the sun scorched desert in each frame of this movie. The design of the antagonists is incredible too. The gruesome makeup effects designed by Greg Nicotero's crew KNBFX (The Walking Dead, Kill Bill) are top notch. They are some of the most inventive and gruesome you will find in a horror film - especially one from the mid-2000's.

All-in-all, The Hills Have Eyes is a non-stop thrill ride that will shock, entertain, and, perhaps, even disgust the most hardened horror fan. It's well worth your time.
