I've gone thru so many brands and formulas that I've lost count. There's a ton of full coverage foundations out there that are amazing but they dry my skin out so bad.
One day, while at Sephora looking for more samples to try, a tarte rep was there and showed me this foundation. I took a sample and used it for two days.
I couldn't believe how hydrated my skin felt!!!
I loved the feel and how lightweight it was. I no longer have to worry about my face flaking off an hour after applying my foundation. This stuff is truly amazing.
The only reason I didn't give this a five-star rating is that it doesn't fully cover the redness of my cheeks. I hate having to use a color corrector or heavy concealer so this is my only complaint.
I'd definitely recommend that foundation to anyone with dry skin! tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15tarte Double-Ended Foundation Brush
This foundation is moisturizing, but settles into a natural/soft-matte finish. It doesn't settle into lines or cake onto dry patches. It has a medium to full buildable coverage that really is buildable without looking cakey. I will say that full coverage with this foundation isn't as opaque as say KVD, but I like that. Even when I layer this on I don't look like I'm wearing a full face. I do have to use concealer for undereye circles or really pesky pimples.
The packaging is so pretty, but I really don't like the dropper. I would prefer a pump just for ease of use. However, I can completely look past the dropper because of how much I love this foundation.
I've been waiting to buy this foundation for a while after seeing so many good reviews on it, but I was skeptical because I have oily skin and wasn't sure how a water based foundation would work with my skin. Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised, and this is a foundation I will keep using for quite a while! This foundation is extremely long lasting; I've worn it for 12+ hours, and while it may look a bit worse than when it was first applied, it controls oil very well over that period of time and stays extremely smooth. I have noticed that if you do wear it for more than 8 hours, it will start to break down a bit around my nose, but this is easy to fix with some setting powder. Another thing I love about this foundation is how smoothing it is. I have acne scars across my cheeks that are more pitted, and it covers them and smooths them out wonderfully. It allows my skin to look like how I want my skin to look like, without looking cakey or oily. A few pointers with this foundation though: 1. Wash and moisturize your face. It's super hard to tell if it's a good foundation if you don't do this. 2. Use a brush or beauty blender. I didn't notice a lot of difference between the 2. 3. Water or silicon based primers both seem to work well with this foundation. I strongly recommend this foundation for anyone with oily skin or that has acne or scarring. It builds wonderful and keeps my face looking great all day, if I blot and powder around the 5-6 hour mark.
Overall I would recommend unless you're looking for full coverage.
