I LOVE THIS FOUNDATION!! It works so so well under any powder. I struggle with dry skin and this really helps rehydrate. I originally bought it because I live on the water and wanted a waterproof foundation for the summer. Its February now and I’m still using it even when I don’t need a waterproof foundation. The finish is amazing and light. It never feels cakey or like it’s clogging my pores. It provides medium coverage. If I have a pimple or breakout that I need a little bit more help covering, I just use concealer because layering this product doesn’t really increase the coverage. It blends so nicely into my skin. I’ve used beauty blenders, foundation brushes and my fingers and it still goes on perfectly. I get spray tans once a week and it some how looks perfect on my skin when I’m tan and when I’m pale. My only complaint about the product is the applicator/bottle. It’s a glass bottle with a dropper applicator. It can get messy and is sometimes hard to get the product out.

This has been my go-to foundation this winter! I was using a different brand for a while, but eventually winter hit and I had to switch out, my skin got too dry for a more matte foundation. Tarte's Rainforest of the Sea foundation was a random find, I don't think I've actually really heard anyone talking about it.

It is light coverage with a natural finish. I do try to layer it up on spots where I have some redness something through (cheeks mostly) and it doesn't layer great, but it does a decent job of at least evening out my skin tone. It's nice and light and doesn't feel like you're wearing anything at all, which is nice. I think my biggest complaint is I don't feel that it lasts as long as I'd want a foundation to. After 6 or so hours I feel like it has faded away much more than I'd like it to. I guess that is the trade off for something so breathable though!

If you're working with normal to dry skin, without much acne or other things you want cover up, this could definitely be a good choice. I've been using it in the winter so the SPF isn't a huge deal to me but I'm sure it's nice to have as well. If your skin is oily or you want medium or high coverage, I'd skip this altogether.

This is such a unique foundation , it has such a beautiful dewy like finish and feels like it's fully hydrating your skin . I have excessively dry skin and I can wear this foundation and not worry about my dry patches showing . In general I do not like to wear full cover foundation and I'd say this one is a light to medium coverage but can be layered on the skin to reach a medium to almost full coverage. I would recommend this foundation to anyone with dry skin , dull skin , or skin with little to no bumps . After giving this foundation a months use i can say this is my new favorite foundation! tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15

If you have dry skin, you need to try this foundation. Right now, this is my holy grail foundation. The way it sinks into your skin and leaves behind such a smooth finish is so nice, and the coverage is decent. I find that it can be layered to be medium coverage. Because it's a water foundation, this isn't for oily skin people. This is for you thirsty guys and girls who need to keep hydration and no cakiness. I've never been cakey using this foundation. Also, make sure you shade match. I find that the shade in this foundation is NOT the same as the corresponding shade for the Amazonian Clay foundation, it's almost a little darker, maybe because of the consistency. The closest match to this foundation in my opinion is the Fit Me Dewy and Smooth, but this is much nicer when directly compared.

One of my friends turned me onto this product and I’ve liked it so far. I bought it last spring and don’t wear foundation often during the summer so I only ended up using it about 15 times. So far, mostly good. The downside for me is that since it is water based it can’t be applied with a beauty blender. The formula comes in a dropper and goes on fairly easily with a brush. It is light but can be layered for more coverage when needed. I have always used a setting power with this so I can’t speak to the performance without one but the color/finish matches my skin well and I haven’t experienced any harsh flashback in photos. It also hasn’t made me breakout which is HUGE since I have fairly picky skin. Because of this, I’m always nervous to try new foundations but I believe this one is worth the risk.

Review for: medium-tan sand more...
I had tried the NARS Barcelona foundation previous to this foundation; however, it would always leave my face dry. I use primer underneath my make-up and I didn’t understand why my make-up would look patchy. After going into Sephora and talking to a make-up artist, she suggested I buy the Tarte medium-tan sand. I have a mixture of both oily and dry skin. I was looking for a foundation that I could wear daily at work. I fell in love with the foundation. It did blend well with my skin and it didn’t feel heavy. The only reason why I gave this foundation a 3 star is because the bottle’s custom dropper applicator gets a lot of foundation stuck inside the dropper. The dropper never really worked for me since often times I had to tilt the bottle to get the foundation out. Sometimes the dropper would grab the foundation well, but when pressed down to release the foundation to my face a large amount would come out. I never had a great experience with the dropper. It either had too much product inside or on the outside (“around the dropper”). No one wants to waste foundation when applied. The dropper was perhaps the only negative design this product had. Overall, the foundation is great. It left my skin smooth and gave me a soft complexion. If you want an easy and fast application choose a different foundation.

This foundation is by far the best foundation I have tried! I use this foundation for a light or medium coverage on day to day use as well as a full coverage on days I have a photoshoot to model in. Applied on my beauty blender sponge, it builds and blends smoothly without leaving crease lines or dry patches. (I have dry/sensitive skin and this doesn't soak in, streak, or leave me with breakouts during or after use.) I seriously love this product.

I got a sample of this from Sephora after hearing so many amazing reviews. I loved it when I first put it on, but when I got home from work and looked in the mirror my skin looked horrific. I have never seen a foundation do what this did to my skin. It looked like it sunk into every pore and grabbed every hair on my face. I have acne and large pores, so I need a foundation that will cover my problems, not create more. I’m so embarrassed that I walked around who knows how long with my skin looking like that. Never again.

This a great foundation for dry skin!! So I have combination skin that’s usually oily, but in the colder months I am VERY dry and this kind of foundation is perfect for that! I personally really like the dropper (since it’s a more liquid foundation) so the pump would just be messy! This is a light-medium coverage formula (build able... probably can’t get a full coverage out of this though!) This has a very natural finish, therefore it’s not really cakey which is nice! I personally have a lot of acne and scarring (so I really had to use a lot of concealer sadly), but for everyone who doesn’t need as much coverage and just needs a base that’s lightweight.. this is great!! I recommend checking it out.. very natural looking

Oh man! 3 stars for this.

First of All.. I love the CONSISTENCY TEXTURE AND FINISH of this foundation. BUT...BUT I HATE THAT THIS BROKE ME OUT!

I posted a reddit blog about this and people agreed with me. This foundation has coconut ingredients/ coconut derivatives in them that made me breakout!

I am not allergic to coconut in anyway its just coconut can clog pores. Thats why oils dont work for me. and I tried this foundation and i LOVED IT at first. because it was just amazing. amazing finish not too full coverage tho, I got THE PERFECT SHADE. but it broke me out.

I will try to give my face sometime to heal before I really try and see if it is this one that broke me out!

What would you say the pros/cons are with this foundation? I have been wanting to try it since it launched but, "water" foundation sounds a bit unappealing.

As i walked to sephora and asked about e regular tarte foundation, i was told it was clay. Sampling the foundation, i noticed to gave me full coverage along with pimples. This foundation being water based foundation, do you guys know if it gives a full coverage?
