Review for: Medium Neutral, Tan-Deep Sand more...
Please allow me to start off by saying that the only thing I would want to change about this foundation is the way you dispense the product and POSSIBLY it’s staying power (which probably just slips off of my nose because of the primer I use and my oily skin or the setting powder I sometimes use).

This foundation is my go-to after years of having the most difficult time trying to find a foundation in my skin shade! After using this combined with the tarte The Sculptor Amazonian Clay Contouring Face Slenderizer and tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer my face appears so much more youthful. With this foundation my natural beauty is not hidden, but enhanced. The finish is matte but not drying, which was another concern of mine as I do get much dryer skin in the winter months.
Usually with many other foundations I’ve tried, I get patches where the product builds up and chalks out. The Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation applies smoothly and evenly, and a small amount of product goes a long way so don’t let the price in comparison to size, scare you away. My household lives on a tight budget so I like to pinch pennies wherever necessary, however I don’t need to break the bank buying foundation because one tube lasts me a long time. I currently have 3 tubes of this foundation, two in Tan Deep Sand for my summer tan and one in Medium Neutral for my lighter winter shade. I purchased extra because they were on sale for $25 at Ulta and I just couldn’t pass that up. I recommend this to everyone I know.

Review for: Fairly Light Neutral more...
I went to Sephora and got free samples of this then I went back and purchased this.  This is a cream foundation and very thick when squeezed out of the tube, but applies very light.  I personally prefer a brush over fingers and/or wet sponge.  Stipple the product using a brush for fuller coverage.  For lighter coverage use a wet sponge.  I am still trying to find the right primer for this product, but this wears a long time and more oil controlling than EL DW.  Overall this is a full coverage foundation.  This does cover my freckles with one layer.  Applying this can be very tricky, I used Real Techniques brush to apply and does not look streaky.

This does not have any smell.  The color does oxidize on me half a shade.  When I first apply it, it is slightly too light, but wait a tiny bit a time and matches me perfectly.  Tarte is the perfect color match on me at Fairly Light Neutral.  This has nice yellow undertone.

This does not settle into my pores and really makes my face look beautiful.  This  is not matte on me and does require me to set my face.  This is very long wearing, but after long day in humidity, it can look cakey around the nose area.  This will to transfer so try not to touch the face too much.  This might be my winter foundation, but I do really like this foundation.

Pros:
- full coverage (recommend apply with brush)
- does not settle into my pores
- great color selection especially yellow undertones

Con:
- not transfer proof as the day goes on

HOLY GRAIL!!! I have combination skin with texture and my cheeks have acne and get dry and my t zone gets very oily. I can NEVER find a foundation that works and I tried a tester of this and oh my god. I had to get matched multiple times which was a bit annoying because I always got matched too dark but the last shade I got matched to matched me PERFECTLY. Like PERFECT! And the coverage is buildable just to how I like it with looking medium to full coverage without being cakey. I do get a little oily at the very end of the day but I’m in the process of looking for a good primer so that’ll get better. I also use shapetape concealer with this to highlight my face and under eyes and let me tell you it has never looked more flawless with another foundation with this one it blends in seamlessly. I just honestly can’t tell you how amazing this foundation is just give it a try!! Completely recommend!! The photo is of me in direct sunlight and I have cystic acne.. YOU CANT EVEN TELL IT JUST LOOKS FLAWLESS!

Though this product is comfortable to wear in texture, fragrance, and ease of application, I give it a 3 star because of the durability, layering ability, and coverage.

When trying the produce, I was impressed at the texture and how smoothly it went on, both with a brush and sponge. It does not have a strong odor, which is my preference.
I would classify this as a medium coverage that is buildable, so seeing it advertised as full coverage gives me pause. Throughout my day (7-8hr) wearing it, I noted it breaking down around my nose and in the divot between my chin and my lip. My skin is typically oily, especially in the t-zone, for reference.
I used a Naked concealer and La Mericer translucent setting powder, as well as Fenty's Match Stix contour. When I applied the concealer and contour over, I noticed a difficult time blending it out without losing the pigment or having it separate.
Overall, a good product, but maybe should be advertised as medium coverage and not as 12-hour. I'll be excited to try it with other Tarte products, however, to see if I have more success with the layering.

The tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation was the first pricier foundation I purchased and I’m still so glad I bought it! It’s a medium to full coverage foundation that somehow provides great coverage without feeling heavy or cakey. I have found this foundation to blend out easily (I prefer to use a beauty blender over a foundation brush), and I’ve found that if I’m having a good skin day, I don’t need any concealer with this foundation, which is a huge perk in my mind! I have normal (albeit sensitive) skin and this product doesn’t irritate my skin at all. I find that it wears well without fading or creasing throughout the day. All in all, I’m a big fan. I tend to gravitate toward this foundation in the fall and winter (because in the summer I tend to prefer a BB or CC cream) and even though my skin is a bit drier in the winter, I don’t find this foundation to be drying. If you’re looking for a natural, medium-full coverage foundation, definitely give this a try!

I despise this foundation. First of all, the undertones are extremely strong and limited in range. I’ve looked like a banana. I’ve looked like a peach. I’ve looked like Dijon mustard. I’ve looked like a dead person. Second of all, no matter how I apply this foundation, it immediately cakes and cracks when it dries down. Third of all, it sinks so far down into my pores they look like moon craters. Fourth of all, it’s supposed to help oily skinned people by absorbing excess oil, but it definitely doesn’t do that for me. My oils seeped through within the first hour for a greasy, nasty mess. Lastly, it’s heavy AF. It feels like I’m wearing a dead person’s face for a mask so it’s not only heavy on my face, but also weighs on my soul. I’ve tried a brush. I’ve tried a damp beauty sponge. I’ve tried my fingers. Over primer. Without primer. Misting my face with rose water to revive it. Moisturizing with a water based product. Moisturizing with an oil based product. Not moisturizing. I can’t f$&@?!? get this foundation to look nice. I do have one nice thing to say: it’s definitely full coverage... and it could be for you... if you like that plastered on makeup look...

I was suprised at this foundation. It truly is matte and full coverage af. Lol a little goes a long way with this one. I am in the shade Deep Honey. I got mines on sale at ulta for about 20$ but I think its orginal sale price is about 39$. I think it is totally worth it. It is in a squeeze type bottle so you can get your moneys worth with that for sure by cutting it open at the end and scraping it out if push comes to shove ..just a scenario. The only thing I don't like about it is that it make my brushes smell like fart after a few days .. but Idk it maybe whatever I wash my brushes with but I have never had this problem before so that's why I assume it may be the foundation. Other than that I like it!

When I first put this on for a day outside, I thought it was perfect. Then, I decided to test it out at work in the hospital. I'm oily, so I used primer and set my skin with powder before applying like I do with my Estee foundation. I always have a problem with separation, but noticed that this clung to all my dry patches and looked so cakey. I feel like I just have to mess around with my routine with this foundation, so I gave it 4 stars. I think with the proper exfoliation and moisturizing prior to application it'll look flawless. I don't think it's a foundation that you can just reach for for a quick application. I used the bamboo buffing brush to apply, which I like. I have yet to experiment with a beauty blender with this foundation. I can see why it works for a lot of people, I'm not convinced yet though!

As a product that is labeled full coverage, I highly disagree with that. There is not a lot of product for $39 and I found myself layering the foundation which is a turn off for me. I like my money to last and to be well spent on lasting products. I purchased from Sephora and actually returned this item for my go to full coverage foundation. A lot of my friends swear by this product, but it did not work for me. There is a broad spectrum of colors to match skin tones, so I was matched quickly. I am very oily and it did not provide the smooth, matte finish I seek when beating my face. With foundations I always recommend to grab samples first. I did not hate this product, I simply didn't like it. I think it provides a medium to light coverage and should be labeled in such a way so it doesn't throw consumers off.

I appreciate that all of Tarte's products are cruelty-free. This foundation is easy to apply, with a nice consistency and good slip. It does not cake up or go on unevenly whether I apply with a foundation brush, a beauty blender, or my fingers. The finish is semi-matte, and the color blends with my skin tone beautifully. The coverage is medium - it smooths out imperfections without concealing them entirely. My skin is combination trending oily, and I can't say that I get 12 hours out of this foundation, but that's true of any foundation for me. Finally, I like that this product contains a physical sunblock, as chemical sunscreen always gets in my eyes and burns.

If I want something natural looking, I reach for this. If I want a more glamorous, 'made up' look, I'll go for something full coverage.
