Tai Pei's General Tso's Spicy Chicken frozen bowl offers a satisfying and flavorful meal option at an affordable price point. The dish impresses with its generous portion of vibrant, crisp vegetables and well-balanced rice-to-protein ratio. The chicken, while tasty, could benefit from a crispier breading to enhance the overall texture experience. One notable concern is the high sodium content, which health-conscious consumers might find excessive. Despite these minor drawbacks, the convenience and delicious taste of this frozen entree make it a standout choice for quick meals. Its value proposition is strong, making it a recommended product for those seeking a budget-friendly and tasty freezer staple. With a few tweaks to address the sodium levels and chicken texture, this Tai Pei offering could easily become a top contender in the frozen meal category.
These are so delicious and such a quick to make and filling meal. Also, a favorite in our house. The chicken along with the spicy sauce is so good, it tastes like something you would get at a fancy or Chinese restaurant. The rice is also delicious and pairs with the chicken and sauce perfectly.
Chicken and rice are an ok/decent flavor but after buying 2 of these and opening one, I found roughly 2 pieces of chicken in the entire box (it may have been 1 piece i cut in half searching through the bunches of rice and veggies) that sullied my taste for a few days until I tried the next one and found what was definitely 1 piece of chicken at most, tastes fine, barely anything in the box.
Tai pei general tso s spicy chicken is delicious! This is breaded white meat with veggies in a spice sauce and fried rice. They just need to have more food in the container to justify the price.
Will not be buying from this company again. 1 piece of GSO chicken. Not a first time buyer, just looked at food on plate, instead of eating out of container. No, surely it isn't the healthiest.
Tried this on a whim because I went to the store hungerycand the price pointvwasnt bad. Tastes really good. Comparable to the chines food I order out at. It's spice level is about 5/10 which for me is nice. I was able to still appreciate the taste and spice. The chicken was okay. The vegetables were very good and the rice was okay. Over all I would get this again for a quick lunch at work or dinner. The food at the bottom of the container did burn a little bit so keep that in mind.
Very easy to prepare, though I wish there were other on box instructions than microwaving. Perhaps the chicken could be cooked separately to have it come out a little better. All in all pretty good for frozen food. All the veggies tasted fresh, but it could use like some peas and water chestnuts and baby corn. You could easily modify it to make it a heartier meal.
It was quite filling on its own , the portion is good for the price and convenience though I wish it could come in different sizes to serve two or more.
Update : I tried these again about 4 months later and my opinion remains the same. It says spicy chicken but really I do not notice any spice at all. I don't really care honestly but someone else might. It's disappointing that there was one piece of broccoli, which fair enough when I broke it apart with my spoon it spread throughout the rice but really just one piece? It was so carrot heavy which fair enough I like carrots, but I'd rather have more chicken than a ton of carrots. The chicken has a very soft texture which feels slightly unnatural . The rice is fine but I would have liked more. It's decent for the price. Could be better though if the ingredients were better proportioned. Not my favorite but will do in a pinch. I like that it comes in a box that you can prepare it in and you can eat it out of if you wish, to save a bowl or plate. It also says contains bioengineered food products so if that sort of thing bothers you don't try this.
Pretty good for frozen Chinese food. There are usually anywhere between three to five pieces of chicken in each one from my experience which isn't a lot.
I'm not a big fan of the chicken myself. It's kind of mushy so that's not an issue to me but for people who like the chicken, it might be. I really wish they would make a vegetarian version.
For a microwave option this is pretty tasty. It did have mostly carrots and not a ton of meat but the flavor is good and the sauce isn't overpowering
I had one piece of chicken in my bowl. Only one and a ton of peppers and rice with barely any seasoning in there at all. I was very disappointed and wish there was more chicken considering that's the main reason I bought it! Maybe I just had bad luck with which one I got but I definitely won't be buying again
