What it is:
A quick-absorbing, medicated dry oil to clear congested pores, treat and prevent acne, and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for clearer, smoother skin.
- Acne and blemishes
If you want to know more…
With 1.5 percent salicylic acid, this fast-acting, quick-drying, medicated oil clears acne and blackhead-causing buildup and debris from congested pores for smoother, blemish-free skin. Tea tree oil and black cumin seed oil support clear skin, while hexylresorcinol and licorice naturally brighten the appearance of old acne discolorations for a more even-toned complexion.
Counterbalancing the potentially drying effects of salicylic acid, milk thistle and cucumber seed oil nourish the skin and smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles, without leaving a greasy residue. Chamomile and neroli soothe stressed, blemish-prone skin.

What else you need to know:
"When I formulated U.F.O., I wanted to create a dry oil that practically disappears into the skin, leaving oily skin smooth (but never greasy) and yet effectively treated for blemishes and blackheads. Salicylic acid is notoriously over-drying, leaving your skin stripped and looking irritated. By infusing salicylic acid into clarifying oils (like tea tree oil and black cumin seed oil), the drying effects of salicylic acid are nipped in the bud, while all of the treatment aspects (like clearing congested pores and managing blackheads and blemishes) are in full-force. U.F.O. is part of the new Green Line, along with Martian Mattiyfing Melting Water-Gel Toner, created specifically for oily skin clients."—Sunday Riley

Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil
- "Absolutely OBSESSED with this! Keeps all my stubborn acne at bay! I apply twic a day sometimes, once in the am, and once at night. Has a strong natural scent but I actually like it. It is very gentle especially for my sensitive skin. It is an oil, but it works like a charm for oily skin. Wouldn't buy any other serum! " in 93 reviews
- "Just bought this oil, and immediately after putting it on I can feel my breakouts soothed and the light tingling from the salicylic acid so I know it's working. For my normally oily, retinol-dried out skin, it's hydrating enough for daytime use." in 78 reviews
I am not sure if this oil is causing more breakout or if I am going through a "purge". I love Sunday riley products and I want to continue to use this oil but I'm a little nervous. I have been using it for a month and I am still breaking out. I want to keep using it to see if I'll ever get past the purge stage. I also want to give it four stars because the hydration is really nice! It does smell like oregano but that is not bad. I just hope it starts to work because I don't want to give up!
So first off you have to get over the smell. You will get used to it and it's not that bad. This was my first Sunday Riley product and I am very pleased. This is for oily/acne prone skin. You only need to apply 2-3 drops for your entire skin. I typically use it at night and only when I am seeing some zits pop up. After one application my breakouts start to clear and my skin is clear. I should say that I have never had acne bad so I am not sure that the results will be as immediate. Therefore I do recommend giving this product a try if you have acne. The bottle will last FOREVER. After I apply my skin doesn't feel oily like it does when I use other oils.
I got a sample of this a week ago at Sephora, and so far, I really am enjoying it. I have very oily skin, and this does not dry my skin out like many other people have said. It stays oily when I put it on, but not in a bad way. I think it has helped clear up some of my acne and I am going to keep using it to see if it does anything else. It smells like basil. Very strong earthy scent, so that could be a negative to a lot of people, but it doesn't bother me. I took a star off though for the ridiculous price.
A little pricey but the only product that has been able to clear up my stubborn hormonal acne. It’s a life savor. The smell is terrible but I use it at night. Comes off feeling very oily but after you rub it in for. While you can’t tell it’s there.
This facial oil is just okay in my opinion. I bought the small bottle ($40) after a particularly bad breakout and hearing all of the hype online. I don't notice it doing anything crazy great for my skin. My breakout healed in normal time and I still get breakouts here and there as usual. I do like the effect of using a facial oil at night in place of moisturizer to quench my dry/dehydrated skin, but I don't think this is any better than my Fresh Seaberry Oil, which is a MUCH better value.
I hate to say that I really didn’t like this. I know it is supposed to be good for acne, but especially for the price, it didn’t clear up any existing break outs, and if anything just accentuated my problem skin and brought more under-the-skin pimples. Ugh, I’ve tried this numerous times with different products and my skin just doesn’t like it. I purchased this in the Sunday Riley set with the mattifying toner and neither product worked with my acne prone skin. Smells very strongly also
I started using this product after getting a particularly bad breakout. I am in my late 30's, and have very oily skin, which tends to break out. I had heard good things, but I'm always nervous when it comes to oils on my face. So far, I like it, and I think it's helping, but it's not a miracle worker just yet. It doesn't dry my face out like others said it would. It has a very strong earthy smell. Almost like basil. So if you are sensitive to smells, you might want to steer clear of this one.
I love this product so much. This oil has completely changed my skin. I have acne prone skin with texture. I have been fighting acne for many years, and recently I don’t have as many breakouts but I have a lot of unwanted texture and large pores that I am still unhappy with. This facial oil once a day applied at night transforms my skin. It doesn’t dry out my healthy skin because it’s an oil, but he treats the bacteria trapped in my pores. This stuff smells weird but does amazing things.
This product is my holy grail acne treatment. I've been using this for about two months and my acne has disappeared. I used to get a ton of acne on my chin and cheeks, now I do not get pimples anymore. I still have scars from my past acne but this product has faded all of my scars, they are becoming hardly noticeable. I would never leave the house without makeup on because of how awful my skin looked and now I am no longer embarrassed by my skin. This is the only skin product I use besides cleanser and moisturizer and I swear this oil has changed my skin entirely.
If I could give this more than five stars, I would. This is now a staple in my skincare routine and has absolutely changed the game! I use this 3-4 times a week at night following the Sunday Riley toner and I can already see a difference in my skin. I don't get as many breakouts frequently, my current blemishes are quickly disappearing, and my acne scars/dark spots are slowly but surely diminishing. My face looks and feels more purified + clarified than ever before. 100% worth the price!
