What it is:
A quick-absorbing, medicated dry oil to clear congested pores, treat and prevent acne, and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for clearer, smoother skin.
- Acne and blemishes
If you want to know more…
With 1.5 percent salicylic acid, this fast-acting, quick-drying, medicated oil clears acne and blackhead-causing buildup and debris from congested pores for smoother, blemish-free skin. Tea tree oil and black cumin seed oil support clear skin, while hexylresorcinol and licorice naturally brighten the appearance of old acne discolorations for a more even-toned complexion.
Counterbalancing the potentially drying effects of salicylic acid, milk thistle and cucumber seed oil nourish the skin and smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles, without leaving a greasy residue. Chamomile and neroli soothe stressed, blemish-prone skin.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
What else you need to know:
"When I formulated U.F.O., I wanted to create a dry oil that practically disappears into the skin, leaving oily skin smooth (but never greasy) and yet effectively treated for blemishes and blackheads. Salicylic acid is notoriously over-drying, leaving your skin stripped and looking irritated. By infusing salicylic acid into clarifying oils (like tea tree oil and black cumin seed oil), the drying effects of salicylic acid are nipped in the bud, while all of the treatment aspects (like clearing congested pores and managing blackheads and blemishes) are in full-force. U.F.O. is part of the new Green Line, along with Martian Mattiyfing Melting Water-Gel Toner, created specifically for oily skin clients."—Sunday Riley

Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil
- "Absolutely OBSESSED with this! Keeps all my stubborn acne at bay! I apply twic a day sometimes, once in the am, and once at night. Has a strong natural scent but I actually like it. It is very gentle especially for my sensitive skin. It is an oil, but it works like a charm for oily skin. Wouldn't buy any other serum! " in 93 reviews
- "Just bought this oil, and immediately after putting it on I can feel my breakouts soothed and the light tingling from the salicylic acid so I know it's working. For my normally oily, retinol-dried out skin, it's hydrating enough for daytime use." in 78 reviews
This is a very good face oil for oily & acne prone skin. Only need 5 drops (drop into palm, rub hands together to warm up & press into skin & neck). When i used this regularly, i felt that my acne reduced. There is a very herbal, natural ingredient scent to this. It doesn't bother me, but those sensitive to smells might not. Downside to this is the price. Its $80 for the full size & i barely made a dent in it after a year. They now offer a gift set with smaller sizes of the green line by sunday riley to try out & a 0.5 oz version for $40. If i bought it when that size was offered, i would have purchased that one to try as i probably still wouldn't have made a dent in it after a year.

I absolutely love this. I bought it with my Sephora points so it was a small size. At fist i thought that this was nothing special. I kept using it for about a week till i realized that my acne here and there was gone. It was great. I used it and used it until all of a sudden the sqeezy thing stopped working. I continued to try to use it but I couldn’t without the dropper. I still had over half of the small bottle left after using it for over a month. I may purchase it soon again but it is fantastic. The only thing bad is that the smell is very strong even overpowering. It smells like a a bunch of nasty herbs mixed together.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I bought this product because I was attracted to the pretty green color and I liked the concept. My skin is very dry/dehydrated and I do suffer from white heads, black heads and cystic acne. I love oils for my dry skin but worry that the oil will clog my pores and make my acne worse. A clarifying oil was a godsend in my opinion and I was excited to try it out. Sadly, I don’t think there is anything overly special about this product and think it’s kinda gimmicky. Sure it’s a nice consistency, moisturizing, etc., but there’s better oils out there at this price point IMHO. This is a pass for me.
Any good serum product is worth its weight in gold. This oil has a really good blend of beneficial anti-oxidant ingredients, and it is very hydrating, especially for drier skins. I have very sensitive skin and this did not irritate my skin at all. I used this a few times, I used it alone and I also blended a few drops with foundation. Either way you get a bit of a dewy glow. I give it 4 stars for 2 reasons, the first is that it feels a bit heavy on the skin, and the second is the smell, the smell is odd bordering on awful. I like Rodial Stem Cell Superfood Facial Oil better, I get similar results, it is lighter, smells better, and less expensive. The price reallty would be non issue if I could tolerate the smell.

This is my first time using my face oil and this is my first time writing on MakeupAlley too bcs of this product. Sunday Riley UFO made my face break out like craaazyy. actually i ever tried this like around 2-3 months ago and i did break out too. but i still wanted to believe that this oil should've done something amazing to my face, since many oily-acneprone skin people like me crave about it. so i tried again 2 days ago and now there are 5 cystic acnes on my forehead.... i think it just depends on your skin. for some people this clears up active break out and helps the hyper-pigmentation. however, for me, this just worsen my oily acne-prone skin. it gave me immediate breakout and did not treat the one that i wanted to heal. i'm still disappointed with this product bcs the value of the money thooo :((( it broke my heart even more hahah.
My go to makeup and skin product! I love this stuff and will continue to repurchase. I get it from Sephora. While I use this to treat breakouts as needed I mostly use this to mix with my skin moisturizer or foundation for a healthy glowing complexion. I have gotten so many compliments on my skin since using and I love knowing that even while wearing makeup I am still treating my skin with this product. It’s a game changer in any beauty routine because it adds moisture and treats my skin beautifully. It also clears skin right up and evens both tone and texture! Holy grail product!
Like many countless people have stated … Yes, the smell isn’t pleasant. It lingers a bit before the scent fades down. Do I care that it smells? Absolutely NOT! If you want clear skin and a product works, does the scent really matter at the end of the day? I just want a product that will do what it claims • GIVE ME CLEAR SKIN! I been dealing with hormonal breakouts since I was a teenager. I’ve been on every medication except accutane. It’s frustrating. I have it under control now to some degree, but I do rotate my products. I use UFO rotated with Differin. (UFO at night one day, Differin the next night, so on, and so forth)… It can get drying so I use Cerave moisturizer on top once the UFO has absorbed into skin after 10 minutes. Once a week I use a retinoid product (Resurface by Shani Darden)… I think all these products work in tandem with one another. I am not omitting the UFO in my routine because I think it’s pretty potent and does add value to keeping my skin looking better. I think to notice a significant difference, you should try it for a minimum of at least a full month. Overall, I really like this product. A little goes a long way, so despite the price you still can stretch it out.

How fast acting should a product be before we label it witch craft? The ingredients: tea tree oil, salicylic acid, and black cumin seed oil to name a few, when mixed together in varying ways, have amazing skin effects. I saw my cystic and inflamed acne really subside and heal each morning I woke up. This is great for all over the face, but also for spot treatment. For the price, a little goes a long way so you shouldnt need to buy a new one for awhile, which is great! It's an amazing product simply because it says what it's going to do-and does it. Bravo, Sunday Riley! Great formulation!
I have never tried an oil like this before and this product is just so amazing! It will break you out for the first 3 to 4 days, just because it really purges your skin out, but after you will have smoothest, nicest skin ever! This is a miracle worker for blackheads, especially on the nose. The product also lasts a really long time; I purchased the $80 bottle last year around April/May and still havent finished it and I use it almost every single day. You don't need much of it either so it really does last a long time, which is great for the price! This also works amazing as a spot treatment, if you have a zit just put a dot of this oil on it, rub it in, and the next morning it will be almost gone or fully gone! I know some people have a problem with the smell of this oil, I actually like the smell. It doesnt smell like a chemical acne product, it smells like tea tree oil with sandalwood mixed in. You dont smell it after putting it on and letting it sit for a minute, the smell disappears. I recommend this product to every person I know that struggles with acne or blackheads, my friends all went out and got this and fell in love with it as well!
Salicylic acid is one of my favorite ingredients when it comes to clearing up blemishes. So, to find a super light but hydrating oil that also had salicylic acid in it was amazing. I’m too lazy to be one of those people with a 15 step skincare routine so I love a product that can multitask. This oil sinks into the skin nicely and definitely helps keep breakouts at bay. A little goes a long way so if you’re put off by the price just keep that in mind. I haven’t had it long enough to attest to its other benefits like brightening, but as far as first impressions go I’m loving it.
