The PlayStation Classic is a nostalgic throwback, featuring 20 classic games, a compact design, solid performance, and lasting durability that brings retro gaming to life.

The purpose of these mini consoles with games built in is to bring back nostalgia for a system that is very old. They typically have several classic games that were well received sold well and would bring out memories of playing them 20 or 30 years ago. The PS classic does this I'm some respects and slightly misses the mark on some fronts. The system emulates 20 pre-installed games comes with 2 controllers and and hdmi cable. It inexplicably does not include a power adapter to plug into a wall. I guess they suppose everyone has that? You can use the usb cord it comes with on a power bank if you have one. The unit looks great and perfectly replicates a miniature original playstation console. As for the games there are some of the best ps1 games included. Ff7, tekken 3, medal gear solid and resident evil are the highlights. Also included are top tier titles like twisted metal and syphon filter. All in all only 1 game truly misses the mark for me and that is rainbow six, the ps1 version wasn't good and still isn't. There are notable commissions like gran turismo or crash bandicoot. I assume there may be issues with licensing rights on those. The games play exactly like they did in 1996-2000. They will also look like they did. There are no options to clean up the image or increase resolutions. It all outputs at 720p to be compatible with hd tvs, but make no mistake they still look like gaming in the 90s. I like that though, it is playstation classic so it should replicate the original format. The controllers though are both the original one, no analog sticks. Even back in the 90s the analog stick may be preferred so you may have some getting used to when you only have a d pad to work with. Last though some of the games are the European PAL format. I do t know why, but if you are familiar with PAL that uses 50mhz not 60. The 9 games that use this on here is noticeable. I don't know why they did that, the NA version is just more playable. All in all though, despite it faults I do enjoy using this device. I replayed Resident evil, twisted metal, syphon filter and even got to play a few I missed 25 years ago like Mr driller and intelligent cube. Playstation fans will find something to like and if you never experienced ps1 and are curious this does do the job of showing it. You be a little underwhelmed with e prevention (feels like a demo disc you got in a magazine) or the game list. But if you can find a cheaper one 40 dollars give or take I would say go for it.

Wow now this is a blast from the past. Playing on the first ever PlayStation with wired controllers, graphics were great at the time but have come leaps and bounds since then. Performance was good but compared to today’s consoles in another league.
