I've had these headphones I feel like for years and I have yet to find an issue with them. You can have them sit for months or weeks and the battery will still stay charged. You can opt in for extra base but it's not needed honestly. They're bup out so much great sound without it. They're comfortable and can wear them for hours without headphone fatigue. You can't be too far away from your Bluetooth connected device but for the most part it's not an issue. The biggest downside to these headphones is that they still use a micro-usb to charge it instead of a USB C port. But they're older so I won't complain that much.

The Sony MDR-XB950N1 was my very first wireless headset back in 2018, and I am still happy with them as of 2025. Despite them having a reputation for being very cheaply built and the hinges breaking, mine are holding up fantastically! The emerald green is unique and love that colour! Still not going to upgrade them as they are good headphones. The main selling point was the extra bass, and back in 2018, these were the natural heavy bass kings. I was stuck between this and the Skullcandy Crushers, which had heavy bass too but artificial. I chose the Sony because it had better audio quality and noise cancellation. Since bass is an emphasis on these headphones, the mids seem to be less prominent, making these headphones not as good sounding as the XM series. I had no problem with the audio as I like the extra bass, which gives my trap and dubstep music some punch. If you crank the volume to the max, it does slightly vibrate on my ears. They are very loud too and leak a lot of sound so be aware that others can hear you. The noise cancellation isn’t very strong as I can still hear people talking, but it helps cut out humming machine sounds. The annoying thing is the headphone setting voice, as it cuts out the music until the voice ends. The battery life on these is fine, and it lasts me an entire week if I am using them 2-3 hours a day. The Bluetooth tech is old and it doesn’t have seamless device switching like new headphones but it’s reliable. The only thing that didn’t age well is the micro-USB charging adapter, where USB-C would’ve been better as it’s universal and easier to plug in. The Sony Connect app still works with these surprisingly and I can only do basic tweaks like bass level and the surround stage VPT presets. I never liked the VPT presets. It doesn’t have many settings like the newer Sony models but I am happy it works and is simple. The comfort is just okay because it feels nice for a short period, then after an hour, my ears start to hurt as the padding and clamping seem to be very firm. Good to wear these for short periods. Overall, these headphones worked well for me over the years, and the booming bass makes my music experience more enjoyable. If you take care of these headphones, they will last a long time like mine. The build quality, pads, weaker mids, and noise cancellation are the only caveats with these.

The Sony Wireless Headphones Extra Bass Noise Canceling are amazing! The sound is clear and the extra bass is excellent. The ear pieces have soft cushioning and sit comfortably on the ears. Battery life is great. I use mine when I exercise and for running and they don’t fall off. The different settings let you choose between noise canceling, which works very well but somewhat muffles the bass, ambient sound, which lets you enjoy your music while being able to hear what’s going on around you, or simply off, which is the regular setting that gives me the best audio and bass quality. Overall, I am very happy with these! The bass is impressive. I only wish they would be a bit louder as they seem to have a max volume setting that you cannot exceed, most likely to protect your hearing.
