One of the smallest, lightest and most affordable mirrorless cameras currently offered with an APS-C sensor, and sharing the same imaging pipeline as the Sony A6000, the Sony A5100 has few rivals in terms of offering good quality for the price. It lacks an EVF and external mode dial but this allows the body to remain sleek like its predecessors in the NEX-gone-alpha line, and it brings a few new tricks to the table like dual video recording. PROS Very small and comfortable form factor; Very good image quality for its class; New dual video record function; Quick autofocus and good dynamic range. Lightweight, feature-packed and great value for money - an ideal first camera for a beginner or hobbyist photographer

I vlog and use this camera because I love the filter. It is light weight and can be taken anywhere without extra baggage. I enjoy being able to film in low light or outside and get a great result either way. I’m not a fan of the auto focus, it sometimes takes a minute to adjust to an image. Also, I took away a star for battery life because this camera dies so fast. Let the buyer beware: not that you shouldn’t get the camera, but be prepared to buy several back up batteries. I find myself mid sentence as I’m filming and a battery that has barely been used is already dying. This is an issue for me, because It throws me off. I end up just shutting off the camera and not going back to the video. Purchase several back up batteries, you will need them.
