This is a different sort of gym-your membership fee pays for a card key that lets you into the gym building whenever you want to go in. There is an attendant there just during set hours during the day; there are no personal trainers or group classes. There is no locker room facility. It really is like a very large, nice apartment gym could be-just one room with a good amount of cardio equipment ( but sometimes only 2 of each machine) and a weight machine circuit set up and free weights. It was always clean, never too crowded ( sometimes I was alone at late hours, which was a little creepy with all the windows), and several TVs. Overall, it was a good minimalist gym.
I have been a member of Snap Fitness on and off for years and what I'll say is this - they are wildly inconsistent. Some locations are well kept and stocked with nice machines and a respectable weight selection while others are what I can only assume to be prison gyms based on the level of jankiness. However, I had found a Snap location near my apartment that was affordable, had a ton of dumbbells and Smith machines and was never busy. Was it a little janky? Sure, but I loved it anyway. And then one day I got an email saying my Snap location was closing permanently. Turns out it had been purchased by a different company. And that's my tragic Snap Fitness story.
I’m actually a member here and it’s great, it’s a 24 hour gym meaning if you want to go at 2 in the morning by all means go! It has tons of equipment, a good layout, friendly staff, and the music is also catchy. Also it has FREE WIFI!! Yes you heard me free WiFi! What could be much better than that?!? But a down side is the price that comes along with it, $30 a month is kind of pricey expecally if your like me and only go like once a week, but they also have promotional offers which is a must! Like they have one where you pay like $75 for 6 months unlimited and then at the end of the 6 months they will close out your membership and won’t keep charging you!!
My location closed their doors without informing users. I showed up to workout and there were chains on the door. Called the number for local gym manager with no response. Checked back next day and note said “closed until further notice”. After a couple of weeks, it was obvious the location wasn’t going to reopen. It took a month to get my eft turned off and company would not reimburse for 2 weeks my location was closed. They said u could have drove 25 miles to the closest location (in another city)
My home club Snap Fitness Blenheim was amazing! I have nothing but good things to say about it. It’s a smaller gym, but the space is utilized well. There is plenty variety and they were always adding new things and taking customer suggestions. I never attended the classes, but there were quite a few on offer that sounded great. The fact that it’s 24/7 is a huge plus. I had a strange work schedule and being able to go at 3 or 4 am was extremely convenient. I have since moved back home and don’t have one close enough to me, but I miss that gym everyday!
The Snap Fitness in my area just went through a remodel due to and unfortunate situation. There was a fire that forced them to close for months. But the new and improved facility is amazing. The facility double in size, added new equipment, on demand and live fitness class’s, tanning, light therapy, and a sauna! My favorite part is that I have 24 hour access. Sometimes I don’t make it to the gym until later on in the evening or over the weekend.
Didn’t even know my city had a Snap Fitness. I scheduled a tour and went to check it out. Very nice setup and the trainer was friendly and very helpful. They offer a free 30 day trial you just pay around $9 for the cost of your pass key to come in the mail and you get 24/7 access during the trial. Way better than other gyms who offer a trial but you can only go during business hours while on the trial. Will definitely be trying the 30 days soon at Snap Fitness.
Snap fitness is cool because you can access the gym 24-7 but in reality I don’t find myself working out during strange hours. The studios are generally smaller and in my experience it gets too packed in the evenings after work. They keep the equipment up and running well. It can be hard to get to all the equipment you want if there is a hand full of people in with you.
My local Snap Fitness is really small. They don’t even have a water fountain, but they have a tanning bed *eye roll*. It’s good because it’s local, and it’s good for a quick workout. Also the whole 24/7 thing, and I guess they are available in a lot of different towns here in MN. I just feel they could offer so much more, especially for the price point.
Love my local Snap! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, clean & I like that it only allows access to members (I usually have to go at night & feel safer). 24 hr access is super convenient & pricing is ok. A little higher than some places, but I’ll pay for convenience over having to go to my over-crowded college gym. My only real negative is that the times they offer classes are not very convenient & sometimes they charge extra for a class when we already pay quite a bit to be a member.
Q & A
What's the one piece of equipment you wish you could add to your local Snap? I would love to have a row machine and stair stepper.
I'm thinking of joining a snap fitness gym. Anyone have experience with these gyms and if so what do you think?
I have had a snap membership before, I guess I never asked to see if that includes classes? I had seen a sign out the other day saying classes were coming soon to sign up, do they usually charge an additional fee?
Does this place allow buddy passes?
What's this gym like ?
