Similac® Alimentum® Infant Formula
- "My son has a milk protein allergy so he first tried nutramigen and that gave his diarrhea so I gave this a shot and it made a huge difference!" in 5 reviews
If I could give it more stars I would. This formula restored my sanity and gave my baby boy a chance at a normal babyhood! My baby is allergic to cows milk protein, wheat, soy, oat, plums... I can keep going lol. Up until a month old he was screaming bloody murder. He was in a lot of pain and he was constantly throwing up and having diarrhea. We went through 12 plus diarrhea diapers a day and projectile vomiting after every breast feeding session. It was a nightmare. Finally we figured out the cows milk and that help a little to take out all dairy out of my diet. Then we decided to try this on my son's doctors recommendation. Immediate change. It was like night and day. He is eight months now and amazingly healthy and eating normally and still on alimentum. Our insurance covers a whole months worth (10 cans) for a $25 copay. So if you have to use this, talk to your insurance. They may cover some or all! The smell is strong but you get used to it. Smells like potatoes lol. But who cares of tour little one is feeling better! It worked better than neutromigen. He was still I'll when trying that one.
This formula made a world of a difference for my son. Doctors kept telling me my baby was just colicky. He is lactose intolerant. Within a few weeks he was a whole new baby! He’s now 7 months old and the happiest little boy thanks to this formula!
My son went thru 3 other types of formula before getting put on this. It stinks and the price is high, but it works. My son had reflux and colic pretty bad, and this finally helped him.
My son has severe lactose intolerance, as well as severe acid reflux. He has been on hypoallergenic formula and liquid ranitidine since he was 6 weeks old. We started out with Nutramigen from Enfamil, and it worked temporarily, but he started literally dumping spit up constantly after eating. Nutramigen was too thin for him, and something in it still bugged his stomach. We switched to Alimentum, and because the Alimentum is heavier, it stays down so much better and my son just seems happier on it, and he was a happy baby to begin with. So glad to have found something that works.
My baby was breastfed for a month. I start supplementing at 3 weeks cause he is a big eater and I could suffice his appetite. I went thru 8 different formulas including alimentum equivalent from the competition because I couldn't get the powder form here in Japan where we are stationed with the military; nothing ever worked! My son is a different baby now, he is does not cry anymore whilst eating and I'm a much happier mom! However, I don't like that they made the can smaller so now I have to order more and hence, pay more! Not easy when you have to buy it by the case and get it shipped to you from stateside
My son is doing well on this formula he has a protein allergy and reflux. It has helped him be able to sleep threw the night and go longer between feedings. his baby acne and exzema cleared up after being on this formula for a month. its not 100 percent milk protein free but it has less milk protein in it than the enfamil brand one. was told this from his dr. his acid reflux is better and managed with just medicine. where before he was needing rice cereal added to his formula and taking mylanta threw out the day. no longer needs that. also his gas is a lot better
This formula has been a god sent for my daughter. We tried numerous other formulas after breastfeeding failed at 2 weeks old. Come to find out she has a sever dairy and lactose allergy as well as a soy allergy. This formula not only helped her belly from being so upset and gassy, but she wasn’t as fussy or grumpy anymore either! The only downfall to this formula is it’s SUPER expensive compared to other Similac formulas, and there isn’t a generic brand of it. This one retails at Walmart for $27 where the other small cans like this one are $16 or $17. They also don’t sell this one in a tub like other formulas are, just in a bigger can size!
This formula helped my daughter out a lot with her reflux. I was at the hospital for 5 days because the first 2 months of life, she was trying out all types of different formulas and she would throw up and have diarrhea with al of them because of the lactose in the formulas. I then went with this formula because I saw my parents going through this with my little sister and she got better after trying this one. I then had to go to the hospital because she was just throwing up all the formulas. At the hospital they gave her this formula and it was the only thing that made her GERD better.. She is about to turn one and she is still drinking this formula. I recommend it to any paren't going thru what I went through, it really is great!
After trying several formulas we found this one! My little one can finally have normal bowl movements and not an upset tummy! It’s very pricey but it’s worth it.
My son was switched between too many formulas in his first month of life. My husbands side of the family had horrible milk allergies, so one day I decided I wanted to sample this to see if it was the answer to our prayers...and it was! He hasn't had any problems since being on this formula. It's been a lifesaver! All of my sons crying, colic-y, acid reflux symptoms subsided within two weeks.
