It's been about five years since I last watched the original Saw film. I forgot just how good it truly is.

It's a real shame that James Wan's incredible directorial debut is often remembered by the public as nothing more than a gory torture-porn film. This couldn't be further from the truth.

While many of the sequels certainly began to simply revel in the gory effects, the original film is a tight, fast-paced mystery thriller. There's some bloody sequences, but it's nowhere near as gory as it's often thought to be.

An airtight script by Leigh Whannell paired with James Wan's incredible directorial ability keeps several interweaving storylines following quickly and seamlessly. The entire time, I was glued to the screen and, man, the expert orchestration of each twist still impresses after multiple viewings.

If you've avoided Saw because you think it has no depth, or if you don't want to revisit it due to sequels dampening your memory of it, you're missing out.

This movie is an absolute essential.

Compared to the other Saw movies this one was of course the making in the entire thing. I feel as if they milked this entire series. Because they saw the amount of money coming in from it. I had no idea that they made so many more after the story had ended and the man had died. But it doesn't really baffle me any considering that they like to keep things that aren't broken going. Until they break. Other than that sad fact aside. And the fact that it became a little repetitive. The movies were very grotesque and gruesome of course and it kind of would have a shock Factor. However it didn't give you a feel as if to sit back and think wow what if this were to actually happen. I think Hollywood needs to realize that a lot of us are kind of numb. And this is not the first movie that has had such horrific and morbid things in it. It just happened to be made in an earlier time frame to be seen by more eyes that have a more open and accepting mind.

One of the better "horror" movie collections. Jigsaw is one of my favorite Halloween characters and the vigilante bad guy plot is twisted. This is more of a thriller/how much gore can you take because a lot of the scenes are gruesome. Still, I do enjoy the movies. Catch them on Netflix if you haven't already or want to see it again.

This will forever be one of my favorite film series. I think the concept is so outrageously creative and they did well throughout all the movies. I'd recommend, but not to the faint of heart!

I love horror movies, and obvious saw is one of my favorites. I love the killer plays with the victims, I know I look crazy 😂😂😂, but I like it. I can not wait for jigsaw this year.

Great series! When Lionsgate first released this it didn't go so well but as they released more sequels the popularity quickly grew!
The story follows two men, two men whom wake up chained in a dark old dingy bathroom with no memory of how they have arrived there. Grim things begin to shed light onto their identities and they are soon pinned against one another for survival. Jigsaw, holds the key to their survival and forces them into a high stakes game of life or death! Blood and Gore does insue, so not for the squeamish! Follow it up with the sequels #2 does not disappoint, gets darker as it continues!

I love this movie. One of my favorite horror movies series of recent times. The last movie not so much cause they seemed more concerned with with 3D than actual plotline but really liked the others and not just for the gore but for the backstory. Can't wait for SAW 8 next year and hope it goes back to being simple and story based.

I usually hate scary movies and hate gory movies. I'm not even sure how I got convinced to go see Saw. But the plot line made it worth it. You will be sitting on the edge of your seat biting your nails wondering what is going to happen next. But if you don't like gore, DO NOT see this movie.

You never knew where this movie was going to go next. It definitely kept you on the edge or your seat and waiting for the next one to come out. Just when you thought it was over, bam another twist and more movies.
