I know so many people whom have had to stay at the Ronald McDonald house and it's really an amazing organization. Because of them, my aunt and grandma were able to stay close to my cousin who was born premature. My best friend is also staying there right now since she just had my newest niece 6 weeks premie and her son was premie too. It's nice that she gets to stay close to her newborn instead of commuting back and forth for over 2 hours a day.
My child went to the ER with a belly ache.. turned out he needed immediate emergency surgery because his appendix had burst. I had not expected that! next thing you know he is doing a 5 day stretch in the children's hospital and all I have is the clothes I wore to the ER. I was amazed when I found out there was a RMH in the hospital and I could go shower and eat and run my clothes through the wash. When dealing with a child in this type of situation it is such a relief that there is an organization that is there to try to comfort you and relive some of the pressure by giving life necessities!
I love this cause. Every Year me and my mom make stuffed monsters ( they are not scary ones! They are cute and loveabul) and we also collect other things that foster children need for the holidays. A lot of foster kids are put into homes right before Christmas and we provide them with things they need/want. Blankets toys tooth brushes stuff that you would get when your with your parents. But I'm getting side tracked. Anyway the cause is great. But I don't really approve of the whole Fast Food thing. I go and donate buy a soda but thats all. I don't approve of the greesy fat fast food they surve
My son had a traumatic brain injury 4 years ago & we were housed by this program. It was absolutely a god send as we were so concerned and stressed that where we would eat, sleep or shower was the last thing we thought of. Luckily they took care of almost everything for us. My son has completely recovered and although yhe experience was not necessarily good, they did make us comfortable and made it the best under the circumstances.
I am so thankful for the Ronald McDonald house for two seperate occasions. Once when my son was in nicu and I was scared to go to far they let me shower and take a nap. And when he passed they helped me with whatever I needed to help get me through. I owe them so much and I'll never be able to fully repay them. And years later when my daughter was hospitalized for her ear issues again they were there for me for everything. I love them and all they do.
The Ronald McDonald House has greatly affected my family and some of our friends. I had serious back surgery almost 5 years ago, and my dad stayed in a Ronald McDonald House around the hospital I was in while my mom stayed in the room with me. He has told me that it was very private, and he didn't have many complaints. There were no obnoxious neighbors or noises, yet there was a community restroom, which isn't much to complain about. His meals were provided for FREE, usually by local churches or non-profit organizations. It allowed him a nice place to stay while I recooperated. Also, a good friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer almost a year ago, and his family used the Ronald McDonald House a lot due to his extensive treatments and surgeries. They had the same comments.
I've volunteered here before, and let me tell you these people are very humble. What they go through is very real, they house families to be able to allow these families to be closed to the patients, in this case being their children. They work hard to give the families memorable holidays, and an enjoyable stay, even though the reason why they're there in the first place isn't so fun. This place is totally recommended. God bless.
If I could I would give them more than five stars. When my daughter was both a newborn and three mo the old, we were in the hospital. Both times the rmdh just made things so much more comfortable. The hospital we were in had a Ronald McDonald room for the parents. It was amazing. They had food , drinks, snacks, books, magazines, computers, washers and dryers, showers and they had toiletries as well. I can not rave enough about them
I have been volunteering there for years. My mom works with Stampin up and they needed sometime to help out with art activities once a month. The staff is so kind and loving. When you need these families you know they are very appreciative of everything the Ronald McDonald House does. The meals, rooms for family activities and bus to take them to there appointments. I have met some wonderful families from all around the world.
The Ronald McDonald House as one of the greatest organizations out there and the reason why I say this is if a child gets me to a hospital out of town or even in town where they live they allow the family to stay for free but no cost they have the ability to do their laundry there's a small kitchen that the family can take use of. I know people who have had to use it they're always located close to the hospital that way they can be close to their child or family in a time of suffering
