I know a lot of people who have relied on the generousity of Ronald McDonald House Charities for their loved ones. They are a good organization to support because of how invested they are in providing not just financial support, but also emotional comfort to so many families.

As an employee of McDonalds, I am proud that we stand behind such a great Charity. I have seen a lot of people who this has helped, and right now a young child in our community, Mikaela Brewer, who has been struggling for so long, and just got back from New York from treatments. Mikaela had her checkup with the doc and her blood levels are up & down. Her platelets are down to 46 which is 4 pts below her ok level and the doc wants to see if it will come up on its own until next bloodwork which is tomorrow. Her hemoglobin is ok for now but could drop anytime. Her ANC's have fell from 1000 to 500 in a week, now she's at higher risk of catching something. If her levels come back on their own then she can start the 2nd cycle of the 8H9 treatment next week. If they have to boost her up and then they stay up on their own then she can start treatment even if this way delays treatment by a week, that will be ok. If her levels won't rise on their own or by boosting them then they may send Mikaela to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital to have her own stem cells injected. This would be her second and last bag of stem cells that are in storage from her Stem cell harvest which was done June 2012. If this happens, she may not receive the 8H9 treatment now but be given the 3F8 treatment first which is similar to what she already had in 2013. If this happens, we will be here a lot longer. Please pray that her levels will rise and she receives the 8H9 treatment which is the main reason she's here. She wants to beat this again and be able to come home. Here is what her mom posted a few days ago.

When our eldest child had to undergo some tests in the wake of a brain tumor scare, our family had the pleasure of staying at RMH. It was an utopian atmosphere. The people were all so friendly and helpful. The house offered so many day trips and activities to us-the zoo, museums, payed for lunch runs at Mcdonalds! There were so many things happening that we NEVER got bored. In house activties such as costume parades, Bingo with prizes, special themed dinners all made the atmosphere so much fun and relaxed. The rooms were beautiful and peaceful. The kitchens, playrooms, mini gym equipment room, and numerous family rooms made our stay feel more like home than home did! I am forever grateful to Ronald McDonald House and the programs for people like us who desperately needed it. They go above and beyond our simple needs and instead give us a family vacation while we are having to endure some of the most difficult times in our life. Our 3 kidlets forgot about the seriousness of the situation and instead were able to enjoy a holiday from the everyday scares and adult worries. Thank you Ronald McDonald House!! Thank you!
