Robert Mondavi Private Selection Rye Barrel-Aged Red Blend has a unique combination of flavors that confused my senses. The dryness of the tasty Rye seems to clash with the sweetness of the Red Blend. Although the aroma is inviting, I did not appreciate the Gingerbread Spice taste. It has an immediate bite with odd woodsy aftertaste. Definitely an acquired taste. We paired it with Delmonico Steak and Roasted Vegetables. This hearty, fruity-sweet unusual wine is worthy of my recommendation. Most likely, I will not purchase this variety again.
