This was one of the few gates I found where you had the option to mount it to the wall and connect it to a banister without drilling. The locking mechanism on this is horrible. It's nearly impossibly to close the gate with one hand. You have to squeeze the prongs on either side of the gate, lift the gate up, fit the long connecting piece into the hole at the bottom and the top of the gate as the gate kind of wiggles. While holding a child you're dealing with major safety issues so my husband & I don't even put the piece in the bottom hole anymore but it is still a bit difficult because it's heavy to do with one hand. It does the job and keeps the kids where they need to be but it is a major pain. I would not purchase this gate again.
