1430 reviewsWhen I was little, my mom always used to heat up a can of Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup for me when I was feeling under the weather. After trying their classic soup again, nothing has changed - it still has the comforting taste of warm, savory broth (I have yet to figure out their specific spice mix), soft egg noodles, and vegetables with tender pieces of white-meat chicken. The ingredients also aren't too bad, with all main ingredients being what you'd expect (chicken broth, chicken, vegetables, noodles, etc.), though corn protein and chicken fat were somewhat surprising! I don't love how soft all of the ingredients get, so it's definitely not something I'm eating on a regular basis, but it's a definite comfort food for when I'm sick. At only 200 calories a can, it's a warm, light meal. You can jazz this up by adding some extra protein to make it more feeling, and throw in some additional vegetables, herbs, and spices to give it some more color and flavor. While the entire can has over half your recommended daily sodium intake, it's nowhere near as bad as some other brands (though I can also highly recommend some of Progresso's reduced sodium options as well). Like with most food products, the price of canned soup has skyrocketed within the past couple of years - I used to be able to sometimes get a can for $1, but now I get it on sale at my local Target for $2.29 (though I've seen it as high as $4 at some retailers!). Overall, this is a solid, classic product that will never go out of style, and I can recommend it!
My family loves Progresso soup. The chicken noodle is very basic, no fancy ingredients. Chicken, noodles, carrots, celery, broth and spice. A good lunch on a cold winter day!!
