The crust had a great taste, texture and held its shape... was just hard to eat due to lack of gravy. Sadly, most (80%) of the crust was thrown out because there wasn’t anything to mix it with. Just the crust alone would’ve been bland. I don’t recall very many vegetables in this pot pie and I was SOO looking forward to this nostalgic, staple comfort food. (Granted my dissatisfaction in the lack of filling didn’t help.)
This was a BIG Pot Pie... A lot of potential just not much on the inside to fulfill the satisfaction.
NOTE: Also, it wasn’t overcooked and the filling/gravy didn’t leach out. *A lot of potential here!* Honestly, I’m not sure if it was a bad batch, glitch in the system... I would hope Marie Callendar’s sticks up to their reputation with quality products and makes sure this isn’t the protocol.
Sadly, I thought I took a picture but, couldn’t find one.
I adore Marie Callender's Beef Pot Pies. When I lived in California, there was a Marie Callendar's Restaurant close to where I lived. That's how I fell in love with their pot pies. However, when I moved to PA, I soon found out there were no Marie Callender's Restaurants on the east coast. So, I bought the frozen pot pies, but I was afraid they wouldn't be any good. But, I was pleasantly surprised and glad that they are delicious. They, of course, aren't as good as the restaurant but they are a very close second. Now when I eat them, I think of home.
