So far, it takes ink out of paper fairly well. I have used it with decent success with colored pencils as well. It doesn't completely erase, but lifts off enough to take care of most problems. Doesn't mark up the paper either. It stinks! As in, the smell is something else. After a while it isn't as strong, but it can be quite startling first out of the package. And probably don't let it sit on plastic. I had an eraser sitting on the black plastic tray to some colored pencils, and it started changing the color of the plastic orange. A paper barrier solved that problem. As I said, it does a fairly good job getting ink out of the paper, which is why I got it, and doesn't destroy the paper.
