I like that the straightener hasn't broken down on me. I've had this straightener for 7 years and it still works perfectly fine. I don't like that it causes split ends. It's not a cheap straightener but it isn't the best straightener on the market. I have a better one by ghd that doesn't cause split ends, damage, frizz or dents and leaves my hair straight without the style falling out. It still makes my hair damaged and i give is a 3.5.

This is my first Amika styler, though I've used their hair products plenty of times. - pro: the on/off switch is on the inside which makes it hard to press accidentally (something I used to worry my cat would accidentally press on my old straightener) - pro: heats up fast enough - con: the plates get a lot of build up, more than I've ever seen on prior straighteners. I cycle through heat protectors so I'm not sure if it's that or the Amika but it's hard to remove the buildup - con: I see a lot of "crimping" with this straightener where it will leave a line in my hair which is annoying Overall I will keep using it til it dies, but I'm not sure I would buy this one again
