picked up the Philips Door Chime Decoy Camera mainly for a bit of added peace of mind, and overall, I’m pleasantly surprised by how effective it is for such a simple idea.
First impressions were good — it looks realistic enough at a glance that you wouldn’t question whether it’s a real security camera. The design is clean and not too bulky, so it doesn’t stick out awkwardly on the front of the house. Installation was super straightforward too, which I appreciated. No wiring or complicated setup — just mount it and you’re good to go.The built-in door chime feature is actually a nice bonus. It’s loud enough to hear throughout the house without being obnoxious, and it adds a bit more functionality beyond just being a visual deterrent. It definitely makes it feel a bit more “legit” compared to a basic dummy camera.
Of course, it’s worth remembering that this is a decoy, so it’s not going to replace a proper security system. But for deterring opportunistic visitors or just giving that extra sense of security, I think it does the job well. It’s also a much more affordable option if you’re not ready to invest in full CCTV.Overall, I’d say it’s a solid little buy — easy to install, convincing enough, and practical thanks to the added chime feature. Great for anyone wanting a simple, low-cost security boost without the hassle
It’s always good to have a camera device at your front door. Love how this works to deter from theft but also the convenience of access from wherever you are.
This decoy camera actually looks pretty legit and seems like it would deter and unwanted/suspicious activity. The motion sensor kicks on well and provides a bright light and the doorbell works well also.
