4 reviewsI was a little disappointed that it looked nothing like the picture. But then no one would purchase it if it did. I should have kept a closer eye on the spice level too. Glad I had some extra veggies to add to it.
I picked this up from Food Lion for $4.60. The front of the package boasts 4/5 peppers on their spice scale and a spicy gochujang sauce. The box only comes with instructions for the microwave so that's how I prepared it, but I wish they would include stovetop instructions. It was easy to make, didn't even need to vent the film , just tossed it in for 4.5 minutes. After 2 minutes the whole kitchen smelled pretty spicy and I was a little intimidated.
Removing the film from the paper bowl can rip little pieces of the bowl off so use caution when removing it. It was packed with a lot of meat but not that much fruit/veggies. The spice hit me instantly and was noticeable but was not painful at all and never built any spicier. On my personal spiciness scale I would put this at a 2/5. The sauce was slightly spicy and sweet and fruity (pear pureee concentrate) . The sauce was thicker and not runny at all . The carrots are cut extremely thinly and could be lost completely to the noodles. The mushrooms were cut small which I like and the meat was cut into about half- dice size. There were 2 or 3 half dollar coin sized slices of pepper.
It was okay with a lot of subtle flavors but the near 5 dollar price seems kind of high to me. It's also high in sodium (1030 mg 45%dv) so I give it a 3/5 it has room to improve with adding more veggies and maybe other cooking options. But definitely could have been way worse
It was good but way too spicy for me and I'm someone who likes spicy food. It's just when the spice overpowers the taste I don't like it. Maybe make an option that's not spicy.
