Petmate Litter Catcher Mat
This item is great and definitely gets the job done. My cat loves to make a mess and throw cat litter out the box for no reason so this is pretty handy. It catches all the litter and I can just dump it off when I'm ready to clean it.
This litter mat is pretty crappy. I used one for a while, but recently tossed it in the trash. It catches some litter, which then becomes very difficult to clean out of the mat. I can beat this mat over and over and it seems like litter will just fall out a few pieces at a time forever. One of my cats peed on the mat, which was a huge pain to clean up. I feel like this mat would be easier to clean if I could throw it outside, and blast it with a hose from a safe distance. Unfortunately that's not an option for me, since I live in an apartment and have neither the space nor the means to do so. I reccomend against this product, there are better options out there.
I mean not the best, not the worst. It catches some of the stray litter that my cat flings but I still have a lot of litter around the mat on the floor. It's also kind of hard to vacuum still, some of the litter is "lodged" into the mat and hard to get out. I like to say my cat avoids stepping on this and just jumps around it, might just be my cat and not the mat's problem
This seems like such a great idea. My cat gets her litter literally everywhere and rubs her paws on the tile floor after she goes to the bathroom. I’ll probably end up buying for her so at least the litter can only get in a small area.
If you have an indoor cat I suggest buying one of these. It catches all the litter on your fur babys teet so they're not dragging it all through your house. Cleaning it is a breeze as well.
I bought this mat not as a litter catcher but as a food bowl mat. However my cat did not like it. She hated to stand on it. She would grab a couple of kibbles and move off the mat. Then I tried it out with my dog and the same thing happened with her too!! So I ended up just putting it under neath the existing food mat.
It worked for a week or so, but then my cat started using it as her litter box. It does captured a lot of the pee, but you must keep an eye so that it doesn't leak downwards into the floor. You won't notice until you lift it. I stopped using it after a week and had to put it away.
This mat for the most part keeps litter on it but not as much as i'd like. I have found a better rug that actually isn't meant for "cat litter" that works a lot better. It is a bit hard to clean as well but using a hose outside does the trick. I wish it wasn't so expensive or I'd buy a bigger mat.
This is an ok mat but I wouldn't buy it again. It did catch some litter but bc of the small size of the mat there was still a lot of litter that wasn't caught. I wish they made a bigger one and then I'd probably buy that one and it'd work. Maybe my cat is just messy lol
Q & A
Do you think it traps all the litter off of their feet efficiently?
How would you lure a reluctant cat into stepping on it? (Diego is a scaredy-cat- won't go near it!)
Does this work well with catching the crystal kitty litter?
These mats are great. I just bought one and it does a good job at collecting all the litter that my cat loves to spread outside her litter box. Just take it outside, shake it clean and your good to go again.
So my cats are notorious for jumping OVER mats...anyone have this problem? I had the simple arm & hammer one but am looking for a good one. Do you think it matters on the texture or feel of the mat?
