I’ll start by saying I typically do my own nails at home (builder gel + tips). I ordered a few sets of various brands (I’m used to one in particular) to try and give my nails “a break.” While I prefer the pre-adhesive nails (reason one for 4/5 stars) these Olive & June nails have so far been great!! They feel like they are on there pretty good!! I like that they are also thicker and therefore sturdier than other brands I’ve tried. My only other downfall, aside from the adhesive, is that while they do offer many different sizes, the majority of my pack were all huuuge thumbs. In addition, there were sizes included that I would have liked to have used but they only had one of that size in the pack. I made it work though. These are in no way uncomfortable and something I can see myself purchasing again!
These Olive + June Press-On nails are my favorite! I love that they’re not too thick and wear easily. With prep, I’ve had these last 14 days before I removed and put new ones back on. I can easily get a couple applications with one set for myself and daughter!
This week's mani was Emerald Velvet in my fave medium almond shape. This color gives Wicked. It gives Christmas. It gives bold, beautiful, a gentle way to elevate any outfit for this beautiful season we're in where Wicked & Christmas collide. This color is just absolutely gorgeous, and my kids told me I was giving Elphaba!
Ever since I put on the very first set of Olive & June press-ons, I haven't stopped wearing them. Each set tends to increase in longevity the more you wear them, so the first week could serve as a 'getting used to them' period. Removal is fairly easy - just soak in warm, soapy water to loosen the glue.
Longevity tip: If you prefer to make them last longer, cover your entire nail bed and the press-on in glue. Let it become tacky before adhering the nail to the nail bed. For a shorter wear, just use a dot or two of glue.
Nail prep: if your nails are not used to wearing acrylics, you will go through an adjustment period of getting them to stick. I hadn't worn acrylics in years, and the first week, nails were popping off. As you continue to wear the nails, your nails will get used to the acrylics.
Cons:
1. As with any product, such as with acrylics or gel, these will weaken your nail bed. Be sure to take care of your nail beds.
2. The base of the acrylics does not fit into the base of my nails. The acrylics have a really wide base, but my nails are more rounded.
3. Made for shorter nail beds. My nail beds are long, so I have to really hack them down in order to prevent them from showing beneath the acrylic.
Remedy: I can remedy cons 2 & 3 by shaping the acrylic with a nail file.
PROS:
1. The CUTEST nail designs. They have designs for everyone - in addition to basic sets, they offer maximalist and minimalist sets to fit anyone's vibe. And I always look forward to their holiday editions.
2. The integrity of the acrylics is very DURABLE. I'm a stay at home mom of 4 kids and my husband travels for work so he's gone most of the time. I do a LOT of work with my hands. For these nails to last as long as they do is some sort of magic.
3. Everyone LOVES them. With every set I wear, I always get a handful of compliments.
4. SIZE SELECTION!! Olive & June offers 42 nails in each set. Compared to other brands, they knock it out of the park. It is rare to find a brand with a set that fits as well as these.
5. FAST application. I've gotten to the point where I can size and apply my nails in under 15 minutes, then I'm set for the week.
Overall, with practice applying the nails and getting through the adjustment period of going from bare nails to acrylics, Olive & June has become my go-to brand for a number of reasons. Any other brand I've tried just doesn't compare. I've fallen in love since my very first set. I had bare nails for over 4 years, but Olive & June has changed that for the better. I am utterly, thoroughly, and devoutly obsessed.
