Honestly the best way to keep pests away is a deturant a candle farther away from you. or if your workig or hiking outside. sweat prevention is sthe best way to go. bugs like sugary smells just like humans. I have used a lot of repellants with or without deet. the best is a cool rag to wipe away the sweat.

Usually every 3-4 hours depending on how much work I'm doing in the yard.

Depends on what activity you're doing. If you're just going in and out of your house then you can probably go 6 hours or more. If you're sweating, or swimming, anything that has to do with rigorous activity, you may want to do the 3-4 suggested.

For me, it varies. If I'm sweaty, or the day is highly humid,I'm putting it on every hour to hour and a half. If the humidity is low, and I'm yaking it easy, it might be 3-4 hours between application. Of course, if you are by the river, you seem to need it sooner than if you are in your backyard. :)
