136 reviewsI recently tried the Shea Moisture Oat and Rice Milk Balm, paired with the matching lotion. While I had high hopes, it didn't quite meet my expectations in some areas.
The scent, unfortunately, isn’t to my liking, yet it is soft and subtle. However, the balm's texture is thick and silky, and once it warms up in your hands, It melts down quickly. I would compare it to a watered-down ointment. It does tend to sit on top of the skin at first and leaves a slightly greasy residue that takes longer to sink in, but for my more melanated kiddos with dryer skin, it seems to absorb more quickly.
I appreciate that it includes oat and rice milk, which are soothing ingredients, but I would have liked to see more natural oils or hydrators to help with absorption. The packaging is cute and functional, and I think this product could be a great fit for those with dryer skin, as it really helps lock in moisture.
While I didn’t use it much myself due to the scent and residue it tends to leave on the skin, I can definitely see how it would be effective for people with dryer skin needing something richer (like the balm version).
It’s not scented other than the natural fragrance it has. It’s very subtle but I don’t like the scent that much. It’s a little watery and I don’t feel like it makes my skin ghat soft or hydrated. It’s okay.
This oat and milk rice water baby line is amazing so clear of harsh things totally affordable and I recommend.
