  • "this primer is amazing and super affordable! i've tried other brands and came across this one day in my local drug store and decided to give it a try and i'm so glad i did. i was pleasantly surprised of how light it was and how smooth my foundation looked on top of it. i have sensitive skin and was nervous of breakouts or of it making me oily but it did none of the above! going to try more nyx products going forward :)" in 450 reviews

I heard that this primer was a dupe for the Smashbox Photo Finish, and I wanted to try it out myself. It felt very, very similar when I played with it for the first time and compared it.

The pros:
- Smooths out skin and makes it so, so soft!
- Not irritating, so should be good on sensitive skin
- A little goes a long way, so a bottle will last a while
- Comparatively cheap!

The cons:
- Didn't make my pores disappear; fine lines and pores still peek through a bit
- Didn't make my makeup last noticeably longer
- Where I'm most oily, my nose, started to separate and slough off my foundation; probably not great for oily skin

NYX Studio Perfect PrimerLoving the lavender primer!
I bought this when Ulta had 40% off most NYX products a few weeks ago. My skin has yellow undertones and I use MAC NC45 Foundation and powder. This primer doesn't make my oily skin shiny at all and I rarely have to touch up the t-zone area with powder like I did before I started using this. It goes on really light and smooth and lasts me all day. Make sure to shake the bottle up really well before applying, and a little goes a long way.

My skin is very hard to work with when it comes to makeup. Nothing I buy really like to stay on my skin. I bought this a while ago and put it on my face before applying my foundation (L’Oréal infallible pro-matte) and it didn’t really do the job for me. My makeup separated and it just didn’t stay on as long as I think it should’ve. But I read something about mixing your primer with your foundation, so I tried it out. I applied my foundation on the back of my hand and then my primer on top and hen mixed it together. My makeup went on to my face SO smooth, and even gave me more product. My face looked 10 times better and the one thing I was hoping for: IT STAYED ON ALL DAY ! I went to school not worrying about it separating or sliding off my skin, and it even lasted when I took a nap. I gave it 4 stars because it didn’t work when I put it on before my foundation, but heck it worked amazing when I mixed it!

For a drugstore brand, this is a solid product. However, it was a mild irritant for my very sensitive skin so it definitely wasn't for everyday use-- special occasions only. The formula uses a lot of silicone, as do most primers, so having less sensitive or oilier skin is probably better here.
It does keep makeup in place all day so it definitely does the trick if you don't suffer from breakouts with the slightest bit of silicone like me!

This is the only primer that I can see the difference after a whole day work. I compared it with Hourglass, too faced peach, and my favorite Guerlain primer. To my surprise this NYX primer makes my foundation to last all day! It is silicon based but not as thick as smashbox original. Of course it doesn't smell like Guerlain, but who cares! Btw I have oily skin and I use the purple one for my yellow skintone.

Oily consistency but dries/absorbs quickly. There isn't anything terribly wrong with this product but there's nothing great either. I didn't really notice a difference when using this versus not using a primer at all.

I have very sensitive skin but luckily this primer doesn't irritate my skin or make it break out after use. Overall, it's not for me but could work for some.

Okay... tbh I’m not a fan of this primer. I was extremely excited to try this green primer on my reddish skin and I was let down. Once the primer is applied to the skin the green tint completely goes away. This is kind of a waste of money if you are looking to help fix redness. Great primer, just doesn’t do what it’s supposed to.

I'm not usually a primer person, I don't notice much of a difference in wear time.. etc. That being said Nyx's Studio Perfect is apparently a dupe for a Smashbox primer. I love dupes and wanted to try this product. It has a watery consistency, yet feels silky as you rub it into your skin. I noticed my pores looked reduced, and my skin appeared hydrated. As I applied foundation, I noticed for once my makeup wasn't looking cakey (usually when I wear primers it changes my texture and makes makeup sit on top of my face) and actually blended into my skin. I did not notice a longer wear time, but the overall appearance of my foundation did look flawless.

The primer is defiantly pore filling it smoothing. I only use it in my t-zone and anywhere else texture sometimes pops up. The problems I have with it is that it is oily. When ever I squeeze some out extra oil comes with it instead of just the product. Also it is very drying to the skin so I have to use a moisturizer with it. I also have some difficulty blending foundations over it. The NYX total control foundation works perfectly with it but some other foundations just seem to lay onto instead of blending into the skin.

This product was not bad by any means but it just didn't do anything for me. I felt it didn't do anything for my pores or protect my skin, and it didn't make my foundation perform any differently. I have combination skin and it seemed to make my skin feel a tad greasy, i would not repurchase or recommend.
