  • "[product:nyx-matte-bronzer] was my first bronzer ever, and it still is! it is a very buildable bronzer which can be used as a contour, the bronzer won’t skip, it will last forever! i highly recommend because it can be a great dupe!" in 550 reviews

I’ve used almost every bronzer out there. I was drawn to this bronzer because it’s matte and very cheap in comparison to my other bronzers. Im naturally fair skinned but get spray tans almost every week. When I’m on the pale side I can’t use this bronzer because of the orange undertone. It ends up looking unnatural and weird. As the day goes on and my skin gets a little oily this only gets worse. When I’m tan though it works a lot better with my skin. I don’t use it everyday just because I have other products that I prefer but this is good to keep in my bag for a touch up or when I’m in a rush. It’s super pigmented and a little goes a long way. If I’m not careful and apply a little to much it’s hard to blend. I’m giving this product 3 stars because it is a decent cheap bronzer but definitely not something I use in my daily routine.

Meh. I was excited to try this because I’m almost always impressed with NYX products (and I love the price 😏.) In the winter I’m fairly pale but get very tan in the summer. I’ve only tried this in the winter when I have pale skin and it looks orange. It does not appear natural or matte. I prefer Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer anyday over this. This might be good for contouring if you’re looking for something inexpensive. I wouldn’t use this on my whole face.

Pro tip: I occasionally will throw this in my purse if I’m going out and need touch ups. I don’t care if it would break and it’s inexpensive.

This bronzer didn't last very long on my skin, even after applying a setting spray. After a few hours it would be as if I didn't even apply any. I also found it was a bit muddy on my face (I used the Deep Tan shade for my tanned Asian skin tone) and didn't give me that bronzed sun-kissed look I was going for. It also wasn't very pigmented so it took a few layers to get the colour to show on the skin. This would be a nice bronzer for beginners though as it would allow them to build the colour up slowly as they are learning and practicing. I won't be repurchasing.

I bought this product because it looked similar to the Too Faced Chocolate Solei bronzer. I compared this bronzer to my Too Faced one and in my opinion it is a dupe. Not only because of the packaging, but there’s a lot of pigment and the shade is perfect for medium to dark skin tone! For the price, it is totally worth buying over the Too Faced one. I mean if you want your bronzer to smell like chocolate then you can buy the Chocolate Solei but besides that the NYX bronzer and the Too Faced bronzer are pretty similar to each other.
The only difference is the smell and price. I currently use my NYX over the Too Faced one.

Review for: Light more...
I really wanted a matte bronzer without the shimmer and glitter and I wanted to try a cheaper alternative rather then spending on something I could possibly dislike. I’m very pale so I opted for the light bronzer I just wanted a bit of dimension not a brown streak down the sides of my face. I was not impressed. It’s very pigmented but the light one has a kind of rose/pink tone rather then a tanned look so it looks like I put way too much dark blush on. I’ve been using it as a blush more than a bronzer

I read on Beautypedia, that NYX’s Matte Bronzer was “one of the best”. I beg to differ. Since the bronzer is extremely matte, it drags and tugs on uneven skin, and the finish is anything but smooth or even. And since the finish isn’t even, it’s hard to blend out and it looks blotchy and uneven, after applied then blended. The only good thing about this bronzer is the pigment percentage. The pigmentation is high, so the color payoff is great, but if it doesn’t apply evenly, then the color payoff doesn’t really matter. I feel like the matte finish might be better for dryer skin types, because it seems to tug on oily patches. But then again, the matte finish might tug on dry patches too. I don’t recommend this bronzer, because there are SO MANY better bronzers out there! And if you’re looking for something on the more affordable side; In that case, Physician’s Formula offers lots of nicer, smoother, more blend-able, but still affordable, options.

I use this bronzer everyday and I am not sure I will ever buy another brand. This is perfect. I used to use light but I switched to deep tan and that was a great decision. I use this bronzer everyday to lightly contour and blend but still give me some natural color. It is truly matte, and stays on my face all day with no issues. It blends nicely with blending brushes. The best part about this bronzer though is how well it works on the skin. It legit looks like it is naturally there and I love that!

I use this bronzer every day. Very blendable. I have used it on many different brushes and you can really build it up, or with denser brushes you really only need a little bit. Love the warm tone of this bronzer. looks great and adds jsut a touch of bronzed glow to my very pale skin. Havent used this in the summer yet, but it has been great this winter. Can not wait to try it once I have a little bit of a tan. Stays on all day at work.

I have dragged my feet on buying this, even though i've heard nothing but rave reviews about how people with fair skin and cool-toned skin can use this without looking too dark, orange, or "muddy". I wish I would have gotten it years ago because they were SO right! As with anything, you must apply lightly, blend well, and tap your brush before adding the product to the face. It is lovely. NO shimmer at all, and just gives flattering color to liven you up. You CAN build it as much as you like though, and can use it to sculpt cheeks as well. All you fair-skinned, cool-toned beauties rejoice! ^_^

So creamy yet so light on the face. This product is phenomenal, but you have to make sure to apply it with a LIGHT hand first and then build up if you so desire. Just be careful, fellow oily skinned people, because if you don’t apply with a light hand, I found my face oil turned it slightly orangish. So apply with a light hand and set with a good matte finishing spray!
