I love this scents. Longevity is decent. Projection is controllable by how much you spray. The dry-down is lovely and not as strong of a scent as the initial spray. Nighttime occasions would suit this scent.
I’m using a rollerball of Black Tulip which came in a minis kit this fall. The notes of violet, pink peppercorn, black plum, and black cherry are rich and syrupy - very dark, very sweet. The base note of patchouli is harmonious here, providing some needed balance to the sweetness of the fruity notes. It has a pretty decent projection and fair longevity on my skin. To me this is too bold for an office scent and trends more mature. However, Black Tulip just isn’t it for me. It’s an objectively lovely fragrance, but on my skin it pulls funky and medicinal, like a cocktail of Coca-Cola and cough drops. I fear that its best attributes don’t come across when I wear it.
I’ve had this fragrance since it was first released, in the smallest mini size that was a Sephora points reward. After finishing that, I asked for a rollerball set with the regular size and larger mini rollerballs, and it’s been one of my favorites from Nest. It reminds me of some designer fragrances, or maybe something like Clinique Happy- very clean up and forward top, with a base of something warm, and hints of spiciness, to me.
