Mount Gay Barabdos Rum has been long known as a smooth and delicious rum by reviews worldwide, and it's reputation definitely proceeds itself. The smell of the rum alone invokes scents of vanilla, oak and molasses with just a hint of pepper, cinnamon and other spices as well. The taste of the rum itself is bold but not overpowering and bears notes that match the smell, namely vanilla,oak, pepper and molasses. This rum can be drank straight and would pair well on the rocks with a nice cigar. It can be used in a mixer for rum based cocktails and would work nice in a Hurricane or Sweet & Sour. The flavor did not mesh well with Cola or other soft drinks and juices however, so whatever you mix in will be better if it is non carbonated in my opinion. Overall a delicious and relaxing drink to wind down the night with.

It’s a pretty solid rum. It’s potent and the initial taste has a bite to it. It kinda kicks you in the throat at first, settles out quickly, but then leaves a syrupy mouthfeel and aftertaste, but otherwise has good flavor. The smell is kinda of sweet.

Mount Gay Eclipse Rum is my favorite rum to use when I make a Corn and Oil cocktail. The lime and ginger liqueur really highlights the tropical flavors of Mount Gay without being too overpowering.
