We enjoyed trying Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum. It does have a strong alcohol taste and aroma of bourbon/whiskey since it was matured in both casks. After trying it, I prefer more of a spiced rum. Adding lime does give it a nice flavor for my honey who likes it straight. I like it ok with Coke but probably won’t buy again just because of my taste preferences.

It is very good rum. You can have it neat or mixed with coke and have a great Cuba libre! Lots of flavors and quality. It think this is great find. The price is good as well.

My partner and I tried this rum both neat and mixed with pineapple juice. Both were smooth and easy to drink although the rum itself left a bit to be desired. It has the slightest bit of heat when neat. Most rums are sweet and neither of us felt Mount Gay Black Barrel was that.
