I bought this set close to 3 years ago, and I've only had to change the batteries 2 times. A blue light turns on and blinks when batteries are about to run out. But be careful because if you don't pay attention to it, the water won't come out until you change the batteries. My husband found the perfect spot for easy battery access. The only thing I don't like is that when the motion sensor is activated, the water comes full blast, and I personally don't like to waste a lot of water. So I hardly use the motion sensor 🤦 only when I'm handling chicken and don't want to touch the handle. It is really stainless, spot resistant like it says, but not so much at the base, like you see in the picture.
