I think it would depend on the recipes but most recipes call for a heavier beer and this is really light.

No, this beer is too light and doesn't offer much taste. I would recommend a full bodied beer that would offer more taste and depth to the food you are cooking. Microbrews are great options! Budweiser or Guinness work well, too.
