- "This mascara made my eyelashes look amazing but what made me never use it again was the fact that it smudges like crazy." in 11 reviews
I didn't find Carbon Black to give a noticeably deeper darker black than the traditional black Voluminous.
I like the look this gives, but I don't think it gives the most voluminous lashes. I would call them naturally voluminous. I prefer the tube after it's had the chance to dry out a bit. And I definitely like this at 2 coats. This wand has a nice taper to it and isn't humongous like brands trended towards for a while. It also has the traditional nylon bristles that I prefer. I don't think this gives much length, but it does layer well with other mascaras and doesn't ever clump up or get spidery. It dries to a nice soft, flexible feel and doesn't get crispy or flakey. One thing it did poorly was hold a curl.
My preferred voluminous mascaras now are CHANEL Le Volume De Chanel, Mascara and Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara .
I have very sensitive eyes and this mascara doesn’t irritate my eyes because it does not flake. The product stays on my lashes.
It washes off easily; I rub my lashes between index finger and thumb with warm water and it melts quickly. Then I follow up with cotton swabs wet with water and oil to clean any little smudges left on my eye lids.
The only negative thing I can say is that when you take the applicator from the container, it always comes with too much product on the bristles. You have to scrape off all the excess back into the container. If the hole was smaller, it would probably take care of this.
So basically it gives a nice soft black color and with a couple to a few coats can give the appearance of slightly thicker lashes but still look natural. It doesn't flake and it lasts all day.
I just prefer a more huge lash falsies type look so I ended up using this with my normal lash protocol. I used this as my base and used a thickening and lengthening mascara (two coats each) on top of that. It was a fantastic base as it held the other mascara perfectly and started volumizing so it really helped the other mascara go big.
It isn't too expensive and it can give a natural but slightly thicker lash look. It's of decent quality and overall I would recommend it if thats what you're looking for.
The packaging is kind of boring but the brush is easy to use. It travels well and shuts securely so it doesn't dry out. Theres a good amount of product in it and it's sold at every big chain store that sells drugstore makeup.
