I had high hopes for Little Debbie’s Banana Pudding Crème Pies, especially with the new packaging. The refreshed design actually looks really nice, and I appreciated that each pie is individually labeled—it gives off a “fancy snack” vibe before you even open it. Then… the smell hit. HARD. The second the wrapper came off, the aroma of fake banana smacked me in the face like a cartoon banana peel. It is strong. If you’ve ever smelled banana-flavored candy or medicine, congratulations—you already know exactly what this smells like. Unfortunately, the flavor followed the nose. The filling tastes exactly like it smells: aggressively fake banana. There was no subtlety, no “banana pudding comfort,” just full-on artificial banana energy. My teenager—who loves sweets and would normally demolish anything banana pudding–related—took one bite, made a face I will treasure forever, and immediately threw the rest away. That’s saying something. Texture-wise, it’s what you’d expect from a crème pie, but none of that mattered because the flavor overpowered everything. Sadly, this one was just not for us. If you love super-strong fake banana flavoring, this might be your dream snack. For our house, though, it was a one-bite-and-done situation 🍌😬.

I really love the flavor of these. They taste just like banana pudding. The banana cake roll has a delicious creamy banana filling. I actually prefer these over the other ones.
