Lafeber Avi Cakes Bird Food Because every bird needs a square meal! Birds love seed. Unfortunately, birds often love them too much. That makes it hard to switch them to a better, more nutritionally complete diet. That's why Dr. Lafeber developed Avi-Cakes. Give them what they want. Avi-Cakes are loaded with seed. Avi-Cakes are designed to offer a fun, stimulating eating experience that makes it easier to get them eating right. Birds often resist trying pellets. Since Avi-Cakes are 50% pellets, many birds will eat pellets after eating Avi-Cakes. Avi-Cakes are a great complement to a pelleted diet, since Avi-Cake nutrition matches most pelleted diets. I have the one for small birds (parrotlet). This is normally his breakfast and I have to pretty much tear up the chunks before he'll eat it, otherwise he just picks it up, chews a bit and drops it on the floor.
I have to keep this zipped up in the original package and inside an air-tight container because it does get a bit hard and dry towards the end that it makes it hard to break up to pieces.
