Description

Personnel: Lady Gaga (vocals, keyboards, synthesizer); Colby O'Donis (vocals); Flo Rida, Space Cowboy (rap vocals); Red One (various instruments, programming); Tom Kafafian (guitar); Calvin Gaines (bass guitar, programming); Victor Bailey (bass guitar); Joe Tomino (drums). The times were crying out for a pop star like Lady GaGa - a self-styled, self-made shooting star, one who mocked the tabloid digital age while still wanting to wallow in it - and one who's smart enough to pull it all off, too. That self-awareness and satire were absent in the pop of the new millennium, where even the best of the lot operated only on one level, which may be why Lady GaGa turned into such a sensation in 2009: everybody was thirsty for music like this, music for and about their lives, both real and virtual. To a certain extent, the reaction to The Fame may have been a little too enthusiastic, with GaGa turning inescapable sometime in the summer of 2009, when she appeared on countless magazine covers while both Weezer and DAUGHTRY covered "Pokerface," the rush to attention suggesting that she was the second coming of Madonna, a comparison GaGa cheerfully courts and one that's accurate if perhaps overextended. Like the marvelous Madge, Lady GaGa ushers the underground into the mainstream - chiefly, a dose of diluted Peaches delivered via a burbling cauldron of electro-disco - by taming it just enough so it's given the form of pop yet remains titillating. Sure, GaGa sings of disco sticks, bluffin' with her muffin, and rough sex, but her provocation doesn't derive solely from her words: this is music that sounds thickly sexy with its stainless steel synths and dark disco rhythms. Where GaGa excels, and why she crossed over, is how she doesn't leave all this as a collection of hooks and rhythms, she shapes them into full-blown pop songs, taking the time to let the album breathe with chillout ballads and percolating new wave, like the title track that echoes Gwen Stefani in dance di.

A timeless pop music classic! Lady Gaga’s The Fame never ages and sounds fresh everytime. My favorite song is Poker face. Very interesting lyrics that stick to the theme of the album. If you like pure pop music then I recommend this pop jewel.

This is my favorite pop album by lady Gaga until this day. I still listen to songs from the album daily. She was going through a different period of music back then but it was great. She had some awesome songs on this album, one of my favorites was Dance in the Dark. This album was so brilliant it’s definitely a must buy!

Gaga is a really great artist. I like many of the songs on this album. She does not disappoint and she speaks to all people with her music and lyrics. I wasn't a huge Gaga fan or would really call myself one at all, but I respect her for her talent and her uniqueness.

This album is kind of an odd duck. On the whole, it's produced a lot more like the European pop-dance music (vocal trance, etc) except it has some really odd instrumentation and song structures. Interesting musically. Reminiscent of electroclash with glam elements in the choruses. Lyrics are beyond dumb and occasionally autotuner is used to mask vocal deficits, but this is typical for the genre, since it's about the beats.

Oh, and boy will it get you moving. Real high energy stuff. Great for a workout or the morning drive to work. Every song is good. Nearly every track sounds like it could be a single. A very solid album.

Highly recommended for dance, glam, and electro fans. Most everyone else with a moderately open mind to dance or pop should like it too.

THE FAME is a pop album like no other. Released as the debut album of Lady GaGa, The Fame was released at a perfect time. It is full of club bangers and chart-toppers, like "Just Dance", "LoveGame", "Paparazzi", "Poker Face", and "Eh, Eh". You can even find some official remixes of non-single tracks, like "Boys Boys Boys" due to the commercial successfulness of The Fame and its singles.

I would strongly suggest this album to any Lady GaGa, or -- all around pop fan. It's a key album to any GaGa fan!

I absolutely love Lady Gaga and I love this album as a whole. This is definitely an artist that their first album is the best. She has so many songs on here that are outstanding. Poker Face is probably my favorite just because it's so timeless, and just really good. Her style of singing, and fashion is just so different and non mainstream from everyone else and that's what I love about her, and her music.
