Formula: Most powder metallics I’ve worked with are a bit dry, but these are a powder that feels almost wet in the pan. They apply so smoothly with minimal fallout. I started at the top of my lid, before the crease, and swiped down to the lash line. It looked like colored mirror, it was unbelievable.
Application: Usually, I have to pack color on and be very controlled so they don’t get everywhere. These were THERE in one layer. I added a second to see what it looked like, and it really intensified. WOW. These didn’t need any help, but just for testing purposes, I picked up some shadow with a brush and sprayed it with fix+. (Wetting shadows usually intensifies the color making it POP.). This didn’t change any colors on application except for the white one which intensified. So, these shadows eliminate the need for another product to make them work best, and as a makeup artist - that’s something I look for.
Versatility: This palette has a “secret menu” just like Torchy’s Tacos or In-n-Out. Ready for it?
There is an amazing black in this palette that will make a great tightliner; however, applying the color shadows over the black base rendered that sultry metallic result that gave me “Moody Unicorn” vibes. I’m super excited to use it on a brunette client. (I’m very pale with diamondfire white hair right now, so I can’t pull it off until fall).
Ultimately, the Black transforms each color so much that it’s a whole extra palette. If you have a white transformer, I am willing to bet you’d have a 3rd round of options. I’ll update for certain once I try this.
Longevity: I wore these for 20 hours over the Urban Decay lid primer, and still had no creasing, drying out, smudging, and not even a little fading. The shadows had more energy than I did as they outlasted me the day I used them. I went ahead and took my makeup off for bed, but it looked the same as when I put it on. Which is nuts bc I made 2 Sharply defines wing points and blended them out on an increasingly softer gradient as I worked towards the inner corner.
