Kat Von D Lock-it Setting Powder
Beautiful packaging as always from KVD. I love that the opening where the powder sifts out of is in the shape of a star. Just enough product comes out when you shake it to us on my whole face. So I don't have a ton of powder spilling out each time I open my jar. The powder keeps me matte for a while but I do have to blot. This powder does create flash back to be aware for photos. It can make your makeup look lighter if you use a heavy hand as well. Slight smell that reminds me on cornflower? I don't recommended for baking under the eyes, it looks very drying.
This was the first setting powder that actually worked for me. I was in New Orleans and the heat and humidity didn’t affect my make up while using this setting powder.
I tried the trial size portion of this alongside the lock it foundation and loved the product! So, when I ran out, I bought the full size product and was so disappointed. It doesn’t work well with any foundations other than the Kat Von D Foundation. Plus, the trial size came with a puff that helps control the amount of product you use while the large size doesn’t have any form of product control thus causing you to lose a lot of product. I wanted so badly to keep loving this product, but I don’t think I’ll purchase again unless alongside other KVD products.
I have tried a lot of loose setting powders in the past, but this one is my favorite by far. It bakes beautifully under the eyes, sets my foundation like magic and gives a beautiful matte finish. The sifter is an adorable star which is reminiscent of Kat's star tattoos on her face, and also fits the aesthetic of her line. And the best part of all is that it is vegan, which is really important to me as a makeup consumer.
Oily skin? Meet your new best friend. This setting power sets all foundations beautifully. Sets my concealer with no creasing. Leaves no cakeyness to the face. It does help me control my oil and most definitely keeps my foundation locked in. Even if I blot once a day my foundation does not budge due to this powder. If you’re super dry I’m not sure that you would love it but combo oily this is HG. Staple in my collection and used more than any other setting powder. I may actually declutter all the rest and only keep this one. It really works so well.
This is my favorite powder I have tried. I was using the Coty airspun for a long time, but it was very heavy and made my makeup look cakey. I have oily skin and live in a dry climate. It keeps my makeup in place all day. I do still have to blot occasionally, but that's not a big deal. I can bake and set with this powder and not worry about looking older than I actually am with my previous powder. It has a slightly shimmer finish, which I didn't think I was going to like, but I do. My face still looks matte, but not flat. I've really enjoyed this powder and will be repurchasing.
I only recently started using Kat Von D's setting powder and I like it so far. I like that it's a translucent powder because it means I don't have to worry about it being too dark for my pale skin. It also offers a nice matte finish, which I prefer. I tend to add a little extra under my eyes and to my eyelids to really keep my foundation and concealer from creasing. It's also a bit cheaper than other setting powders at Sephora.
Review for: Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder 0.19 oz/ 5.4 g more...
I purchased the KVD Lock It Powder as sort of an impulse buy. I'm not a KVD fan, even though I always only hear people rave about the brand. After using this product, I would say its okay. I was not impressed with the size of the container for $20 odd dollars, but the powder has done what its supposed to do. The one thing that I do like about this setting powder is that the one I purchased has a slight nude color to it so it isn't stark white like some translucent powders. Therefore, you can avoid flashback. This is also really helpful to me personally because I spray tan sporadically and when my tan is dark, a lot of translucent powders make me look too white.
I purchased this product as a sample, as I haven't tried any of Kat's facial products yet. OMG! I have truly been missing out! I used this for the first time over a full face of makeup for a wedding, and it was beautiful, and it stayed all day. This morning, I used it over a light BB cream, and it blurred every imperfection! I am sold! I will be looking at the other products to try now too!
