I was recommended this product by my hairstylist after she did a dark(er) balayage on my brown hair.
Due to my hair type, blonde tones always turn brassy on me. She suggested blue shampoo (as opposed to purple) for brown hair.
I was pleasantly surprised with how well this worked. I find that it tones my strands just right. It’s on the pricier side ($18.00+ tax CDN) for 300mL.
I find that this doesn’t really feel like it “cleans” my hair and scalp like a regular shampoo, but that might just be in my head.
I haven’t been using this in conjunction with the Joico Blue conditioner, so I feel like that would help even more. Either way, this product totally does what it’s intended to do and I do like the results!
Based on these photos, I think this blue shampoo is quite effective. I use this shampoo 1-3x a week, and I feel like it really helps decrease the brassiness in my highlights. I have long, thick hair, so I ended up leaving this shampoo on my head for about 8-10 mins instead of the recommended times listed on the bottle. When I followed the initial instructions and had it on my hair for like 3-5 mins, I didn't really see much of a difference.
This shampoo is great for when you bleach your hair, and you still have some warm tones left over. I usually would use this shampoo once and then use the purple shampoo once during my shower. And mixing them together really kills the yellow and the orange tones in your hair.
